GC (no scabbard, light surface rust to blade, grips slightly chipped); “Collecting the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich”, Volume I by Thomas M Johnson, privately published by the author, 1982, containing much useful information, (some written notes in text); also a good quality mahogany veneered deep table top glazed display case, 14” x 20”, with red velvet lining and key. A post 1902 RN officer’s sword, straight, slender fullered blade 31”, etched with R Arms, and crowned fouled anchor within rope bordered oak wreath panels, regulation gilt half basket hilt incorporating crowned fouled anchor, and with turn down side guard which locks to scabbard, lion’s head pommel, wirebound sharkskin grip, with blue and gilt dress knot, in its brass mounted leather scabbard and oilskin cover; together with black leather sword belt and slings, gilt WBC. Near VGC, the blade retaining virtually all original polish. Plate 10

Obverse conjoined busts right, by Andrieu, no legend; reverse Napoleon and Marie Louise in Roman dress stand, clasping hands, before an altar, legend “Napoleon Emp Et Roi”, “M Louise D’Autriche”, 21 Avril MDCCCX Denon D” in exergue.
