A rare, possibly unique, officer’s full dress embroidered pouch, c 1862, of the Volunteer Artillery Corps, Royal Demerara Militia, Royal blue cloth with silver lace border, 3 solid cannon within embroidered oak wreath and crown with scrolls “Demerara” “Artillery” below, silver plated mounts, together with a hand written presentation scroll, laid down on blue silk with wooden top and lower roller, from the “Members of the Volunteer Artillery Corps, Royal Demerara Militia, to Captain John Frederick Bourne on the occasion of his leaving the Colony: a token of sincere respect and a testimony to the uniform kindness and consideration which have characterized his connection with the Corps while serving under his Command. Demerary, 21st November, 1862”, etc. Good Condition (pouch minor wear and moth hole to back, flap fastening AF, scroll minor marks not affecting text) Plate 1
A very fine Victorian officer’s full dress embroidered sabretache of the Norfolk Yeomanry, c 1840, of red velvet, bordered with 2½” silver oak leaf pattern lace, in the centre an embroidered VR cypher surmounted by a Guelphic crown embellished with gold, red and green, all within an oak wreath, red morocco backing and pouch, 3 suspension loops and straps to waistbelt of oak leaf lace on red morocco, frosted gilt plate with bevelled edges, bearing silver plated crowned VR cypher within oak sprays with motto scroll “Dieu et Mon Droit”; shoulder belt and pouch, the belt with plain silver plated buckle tip and slide, red velvet pouch, silver lace border and Guelphic crowned VR cypher and wreath in similar style to the sabretache; contained in shaped tin case with nameplate on lid “J. Brereton Esq, Norfolk Yeomanry”. Very Good Condition, the lace and colours crisp. Plate 4
An officer’s dress sword, c 1832, of the Royal Horse Guards (The Blues), almost straight, fullered blade 39½” with hatchet tip, etched at forte Prosser, Manufacturer to the King, “Charing Cross” on one side and “London” on the other with Prosser’s deeply struck proof mark on one side and Prosser on backstrap, brass hilt with flat guard scroll engraved on both sides, with a crown at the tail, 3 scrolled sidebars, forward sloping pommel embossed with scrolls, a rose on top and on the back, brass wirebound fishskin grip (a few strands missing), in its steel scabbard with 2 fluted oval brass mounts and rings. Good Condition, the blade clean. Plate 9
An Elizabeth II 1897 pattern infantry officer’s sword, straight fullered blade 32½”, by Wilkinson Sword, no 10209, etched with crowned Royal Arms, ERII cypher and wreath within scrolled, floral panels, regulation plated hilt incorporating EIIR cypher, pommel and diced backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, crimson and gilt dress knot, in its plated scabbard with gilt lace slings and webbing waistbelt. Very Good Condition. Plate 9
