VGC 8th (Scottish) VB raised 4th October 1900 with HQ at 22 Highgate St. 16th April 1901 Highland Dress sanctioned. Forbes tartan worn, taken from first CO Col. C. Forbes Bell VD. Royal Artillery Victorian Officer’s dress Pouch Belt & Pouch. A fine example of dark blue melton cloth, the face edged with gold lace of regimental pattern. To the centre, heavily gold embroidered Royal Arms and crimson velvet cushion scroll ‘Ubique’ within a wreath of oak leaves and acorns; an applied gilt metal gun to the base of the wreath which rests on a padded tri-part crimson velvet cushion scroll inscribed ‘Quo fas et gloria ducunt’. Reverse complete with tin lined wallet, gilt floral ends and plain belt loops GC ... Accompanied by gold lace belt of regimental pattern, complete with ornate buckle tip and slide. Bullion remains fresh and bright.

He is shown in full dress with cocked hat in his right hand; his left hand holds his gloves and sword. Card mount with ink inscription ‘Yours always as ever, very faithfully, Charles Griffiths. H.M. Submarine E55 1.9.16.’ VGC E55 was built by Denny, Dumbarton and launched on 5th February 1916; it had a complement of 3 Officers and 28 Ratings. Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig and Countess Haig Signed Presentation Photograph. This fine study of the Field Marshal wearing full dress uniform, Orders and Medals. He is shown full length, holding his baton. The photograph is signed ‘Haig F.M.’. The card mount with the additional hand written ink text ‘In remembrance of my husband Countess Haig 1928’. The mount with the photographic studio name ‘Bassano’. The photograph is mounted into a contemporary glazed frame with a silver presentation plaque ‘Presented by Countess Haig to remain in HMS Spey whilst the ship remains in full commission’. Image and signatures are clear. Overall size 14 x 18 inches. This photograph of the Field Marshal was taken at the London studio of Bassano on the 19th July 1921. HMS Spey was a patrol class ship which remained in commission until 1938, original being launched in 1917

Queen’s Own Staffordshire Yeomanry Officer’s 1881 pattern Tunic The full dress uniform of Quartermaster Hon Major Z Cartwright. The lot includes an original photograph of the Major wearing this uniform. Comprising: a scarce example of dark blue melton cloth with scarlet facings to collar and cuffs. Cuffs elaborately decorated with silver lace. Collar with single lace band. Silver cord shoulder straps with Victorian crowned silvered regimental buttons. Rank of post 1901 Crowns indicating Captain. To each breast six plaited silver cord drop loops, these with concealed hook and eye fastening and loop and olivettes fastening. The interior lining is now absent. The silver lace and cord remains bright, but now with some stitching faults, shoulder cords absent. One of two small moth holes not effecting the overall appearance ... Overalls of dark blue cloth, with scarlet line ... Accompanied by: .... Universal pattern mess jacket, dark blue cloth with scarlet silk faced lapels (silk shot). The shoulder straps with Captain rank stars. (Collar badges absent) ... Scarlet waistcoat, mounted with silvered Queen’s crown regimental buttons ... Dark blue waistcoat with leaf embroidered decoration ... Large quantity of family and regimental photographs. Royal Horse Artillery Victorian Officer’s Full Dress tunic, pouch and belt. A rare example. Comprising: Tunic of the Eton style. Dark blue melton cloth, with scarlet facings to the collar, which in turn is mounted with silver bullion flaming grenades and edged with gold regimental pattern lace. To each breast 18 double loops of gold cord, each mounted with a gilt metal regimental ball button. To the shoulders plaited bullion shoulder cords with rank indicating Lieutenant. The reverse of the tunic is emblazoned with gold bullion cord which is arranged in crows foot loops at the top and flows down the back terminating in Austrian knots. The interior is with quilted lining. The overall condition is good, bullion remains bright, fitted with replacement anodised cuff buttons ... Overalls of dark blue with scarlet line ... Black leather boots fitted with gilt spurs and retaining wooden trees ... Officer’s gold bullion busby lines ... Officer’s pouch belt and pouch of regimental pattern The gold lace belt retaining gilt ornate buckle tip and slide. WW2 RAF Ferry Command Aircrew Officer’s Tunic. An extremely rare Canadian tailored example, of light weight Khaki cloth. This four pocket service dress is complete with chrome RAFFC special pattern buttons and to the left breast bullion brevet, with circulate ‘RAF’ surmounted by an Astral Crown and below embroidered initials ‘T.C. 45’ this probably referring to Transport Command 45 Group (Dorval, Quebec) responsible for the transatlantic air bridge. To each cuff two bands of lace, the left with the addition of a Star. Tailored with waist belt. The interior with a Montreal tailor’s label and typed name ‘A Lates July 4?’. Overall GC. Royal Horse Guards Blues & Royals Officer’s full dress tunic. An Elizabeth II example of dark blue material, with scarlet facings to the cuff and collar, both embroidered with bullion oak leaf and acorns. To the left shoulder the Bullion Imperial Eagle device. and complete with gilt RHG 1D buttons. To the shoulders gold bullion shoulder cords, the right shoulder with aiguillettes terminating with gilt metal tags. The interior with quilted lining and tailor’s label of ‘Rodgers John Jones Ltd of London and first issue date of 1978. The lining with various names. The tunic with service wear, but remains a good display item. Please note now tailored with scarlet gauntlet cuffs, these sporting Victorian RHG buttons and have been crudely stitched and glued to the tunic, and with light mothing.

The interior with quilted black cotton lining, this bearing tailor’s label ... Black stockings ... Shoes of black patent leather, fitted with a pair of cut steel buckles ... Black cloth and velvet sword frog ... Court Sword, the blade with etched decoration, the hilt with gilt shell guard, single bar guard and the solid gilt grip is surmounted by an urn pommel. Contained in original black leather and gilt mounted scabbard. Complete with bullion sword knot. GC gilt dulled.... The whole contained in a metal storage tin, this has been repainted but retains original brass name plaque of ‘The Hon Lord Blackburn’. The inside lid with the tailor’s details of ‘J. Royal Siam (Thailand) Navy Officer’s Presentation Sword To W/C F.F. Lambert DSO., DFC. CD., C de G. A rare example, complimented by Wing Commander Frederick Frank Lambert’s service dress tunic. The sword was retailed by Gives of London. The straight single edged blade with etched decoration depicting the crest of the Royal Siam Navy and to the forte the retailer’s details of ‘Gieves’ The hilt with an open gilt bar guard incorporating the Arms of Siam. The white shagreen grip, is decorated with twist wire binding and surmounted by an Elephant head pommel. Complete with original leather and gilt mounted scabbard. The top mount of the scabbard with presentation scrip ‘To Wing Commander F.F. Lambert DSO., DFC., CD, C de G Burma India Far East 1941-1942 from Commander Ut Kasem Tantiprasut’. The overall condition is good, gilt to the hilt bright and fresh, blade with some staining and the leather has lost its colouring ... Accompanied by a post 1953 RCAF light weight service dress tunic. To the left breast RCAF Pilot Wings, medal ribbons: DSO, DFC, IGS, 1939/45 Star, Air Crew Europe Star, with rosette, Africa Star, Burma Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, War Medal, MID, Canadian Decoration, with Rosette, French C de G. The lining with tailor’s label of Randoff Hagen Zweibrucken. GC ... Also accompanied by a 1992 model making magazine giving details of Mosquito aircraft flown by W/C Lambert. (three items) Wing Commander Frederick Frank Lambert DSO., DFC., CD., C de G was born in Wilkie Saskatchewan. After a short service with Royal Canadian Navy Reserve he sailed to England and joined the RAF in 1936. Granted a permanent commission he qualified as a Pilot and served with 27 Squadron on the North West Frontier. Still serving in India at the outbreak of the Second World War, he continued to serve here and then was posted to 2 Fighter Wing in Burma. In 1942 he returned to the UK and after a conversion course was posted to 141 on Intruder Operations flying the Mosquito and was then posted to 515 Squadron of 100 Special Operations Group. He was awarded the DFC in August 1944 and the DSO January 1945. During his service he shot down two enemy aircraft. After the war he transferred to the RCAF and held various posts, until his retirement in 1962, he died in the UK 1998.
