A late 19th century house boys coat from India during the Raj (1858-1947). Embroidered in delicate tambour work in scrolling floral and leaf pattern in silk threads of blues, greens, yellows, and browns on a beige fabric woven with metallic thread, the edging is finished with a metal wrapped cording in a scalloped pattern, the back has been cut-out and removed completely. together with another piece of the same period, in navy blue and pink/red silk dress, decorated and embellished with fine tambour embroidery and mirror applique. All hand stitched and intricately worked. (2)
