He served in the Indian Campaign 1858-59 and was present with the 79th Highlanders at the storming and capture of Rampore Cassie and passage of the Gogra at Fyzabad, present with the 53rd Regiment at the action of Toolespore and minor affairs.

A baronet's ceremonial dress uniform,for Sir Sven Wohlford Hansen, 1st Baronet MBE (1876-1958),comprising:a bicorn hat,black velvet jacket and hose,white silk waistcoat,black stockings,shoes,a belt, anda dress sword with etched blade, 'T & F French, Dover Street',in a painted tin trunk labelled 'Sir Sven Hansen Bt.'Sven Wohlford Hansen was born in Cardiff in 1876, the son of Carl Frederick Hansen, a Norwegian who settled in Wales in the 1860s as an importer of pit props for the South Wales collieries, subsequently becoming a ship insurance agent. Initially Sven Hansen joined his father's business, but he later branched out on his own, his 'Cardiff Hall Steamship Line' being one of the largest operating out of the Bristol Channel ports. For his services to shipping during the First World War, he was appointed an MBE.He later went on to revive the shipbuilding industry in Bideford, Devon and was created a Baronet in 1921 for his services to the town.
