A miscellaneous collection of Royal Air Force Officer's tunic buttons, pilots wings for evening dress and No. 1 uniform, Flight Lieutenants shoulder epaulets for evening dress, bandsmans Harp badges, 28 and 202 Squadron cloth badges, three gliding club scarves and other items, plus two laminated mahogany propeller blade tips converted for use as picture frames, each carved with R.A.F. pilots wings, with strut supports 12.5 in (32 cm) high; and a collection of miscellaneous pottery and glass of aviation interest (a lot)
* A Scots Guards full dress scarlet tunic with rank badges of a full colonel, early 20th c., together with a pair of trousers, a gilt bullion sword belt with Scots Guards gilt, enamel and silver mounted buckle, a bearskin, and a crimson silk sash. This tunic would have been worn by Lord Methuen after his appointment as Colonel of the Scots Guards in 1904. (5)
* An 1854 pattern officer's sword of the Scots Guards by Wilkinson, the steel hilt pierced with regimental badge, the blade etched with battle honours (the latest Modder River), one side further etched with crowned George V cypher and a panel reading "In Memory of M.N.S. Killed at Ypres 16th June, 1915", the other side with Scots Guards badges and initials P.A.M., in leather covered service dress scabbard, with gold cord and acorn sword knot, together with additional plated steel scabbard, in leather carrying case, the flap stamped "Major Lord Methuen, Scots Gds. In Memoriam M.N. Schiff, Scots Gds." (3)
* A Field Marshal's full dress scarlet tunic, the gilt shoulder cords with the appropriate bullion rank badges, gilt buttons mounted with wreathed crossed batons and Imperial Crown, a Field Marshal's cocked hat by Carter & Co., in case (large label inscribed "METHUEN"), together with swan's feather plume in separate tin carrying case, and a gold and crimson sash (6)
* A Staff Officer's full dress cocked hat, late 19th c., in tin carrying case by T. Davis with brass plaque engraved "Colonel Lord Methuen, Queen's A.D.C.". This and the following five lots appear to have belonged to Frederick Henry Paul, 3rd Baron Methuen (1818-1891), who was ADC to Queen Victoria, Lord-in-Waiting, and Honorary Colonel of the 3rd Battalion Wiltshire Regt. * A General Officer's full dress cocked hat, late 19th c., with associated swan's feather plume, in tin carrying case with numerous travelling labels (Corsham Court, Berlin, etc.). The Berlin label will date from the period when Lord Methuen was serving there in 1877-81 as Military AttachŽ. (2)
