A 1/6th plate ambrotype featuring a fine portrait of a lady, wearing a brooch (identified from the accompanying ambrotype as Emily Medcalf). Together with a 1/4 plate ambrotype taken outdoors in June 1859, of Emily Medcalf in a striped dress, standing behind an elderly gentleman. The plate is dark with graining to many areas of the emulsion, mounted in a blind embossed full leather case (.6 x 12.2 cms). Under the plate is a printed paper insert with a handwritten inscription Emily Medcalf, M.A Drew [?] March 1859. This lot continues with a photographic portrait of a gentleman, mounted in a fine full leather case 8 x 9.3 cms; another ambrotype of Fanny Blake 4 x 5 cms in a fine full leather case; Emma Eliza Walker (2nd wife of Edmund Walker (née Eyres) 5.5 x 6.5 cms in full leather case; Ann Johnson (née Flower) sister of Hannah Clements and wife of George Johnson approx 6 x 7 cms mounted in a leather case; Mary Franck approx 6 x 5 cms mounted in a leather case and four others un-named. -

This lot includes a portrait miniature of Watson Solomon (1811-1900) watercolour, circa 1850, of a young man dress in black gown, approx 4.5 x 6 cms, framed and glazed. 19th / 20thC Indian embroidered coat or coat dress, with a note stating the coat was gifted in the late 1940s after partition by the last Mir of the Talpurs (Sind province). Note states the coat to be early 1800s, in our opinion, more likely late 19th / 20thC, length 114cm.
