Lieutenant Col Terrence 'Sailor' Kitcat CBE,DSO,MC- a miniature group of ten medals, a George V Royal Naval dress sword and dirk, a pair of amber snow goggles and pick:, also together with an copy of 'Snow and Mountain Warfare' pub War Office 1945. *Notes- Terrence 'Sailor' Kitcat was born in London in 1908 and was a cadet at Dartmouth Naval college becoming a midshipman in 1924. He began working on submarines until seeing an Artillery Horse display at Wembley in 1930 made him think that the Army 'would be more fun'. During the Second World War he commanded artillery in North Africa and was awarded the MC for his bravery in stopping the German advance. In 1943 he joined the SOE and worked in Europe with Anti-Nazi groups who became known as 'Kitcat's Dragoons'. After the war he was selected to be a British Olympic Ski jumper but after breaking his leg in training he went to the Arctic to test sub zero equipment and clothing. Seconded to the American Secret Service he carried out clandestine operations in Iraq, Hong Kong and many other places throughout the 50s and 60s. He retired in 1967 and was awarded the CBE for his services to the crown, returning to Torbay dry ski slope to become an instructor.
A George V officers dress sword: with steel triple bar guard, stepped pommel, chequered backstrap and wire bound fishskin grip, the straight single edged fuller blade by Fenton Bro Ltd, Sheffield, etched with Royal Coat of Arms and George V cypher, contained in brown leather scabbard, blade length 83.2cm.
