Circle of Antonio David (1698–1750) - Portrait of Maria Clementina Sobieska (18th Century), half-length in a gold dress and ermine-lined cloak with her crown beside her, oil on canvas, with label inscribed 'Clementina Sobieska on 'Old Pretender'' and indistinctly dated '1719'? verso, unsigned, 102 x 80 cm. Maria Clementina Sobieska (1702–1735) was the wife of James Francis Edward Stuart, a Jacobite claimant to the British throne. Descended from the Polish king John III Sobieski, she was the mother of Charles Edward Stuart ("Bonnie Prince Charlie") and Henry Benedict Cardinal Stuart.

Alle Unterseiten mit Schwertermarke, Modellnr. 60001 bis 60021, teilweise verschiedene Maler- und Bossierernummern. Guter Zustand. Höhe 9,2 - 17 cm. Als Vorlage für die Meissener Kapelle dienten Zeichnungen des französischen "Singerie"-Malers Christophe Huet (1694 - 1759). Die Figuren parodieren die höhere Gesellschaft. The Meissen orchestra was modelled on drawings by the French "Singerie" painter Christophe Huet (1694 - 1759). The figures are a parody of high society.Condition: I - II
