A large late 18th English painted wooden doll, with blue enamelled eyes, carved head with sharp pointed nose, downcast mouth and solid brows, painted centre parted fringe, nail holes for wig, flat-backed torso with tie holes for arms, one original kid arm and replaced jointed wooden legs, an early 19th century printed cotton dress, later bonnet and underclothes —28in. (71cm.) current height, 15in. (38cm.) torso height (retouching to face, old worm holes)
A 18th century portrait of a young girl with English wooden doll circle Enoch Seeman, oil on canvas, almost full length, her head turned to the right wearing white blouse with waterfall sleeve and blue silk drapery over left shoulder, the 18th century wooden doll wearing burnished gold and teal dress with salmon pink trim and bi-corn floral decorated hat, her eyebrows and eyes with typical dotting; with wooded background, later framed —29 ¾in. (75.5cm.) x 25in. (63.5cm.) wide (cleaned and relined) - Enoch Seeman was brought to London by his Flemish father in 1704. From 1717 he enjoyed royal patronage, which was sustained until the late 1730. Seeman produced a considerable number of portraits over his lifetime.

4th-5th century AD. A matched pair of sheet-silver dress- or cloak-fasteners, each an 8-shaped plaque with beaded edge and central bridge, bronze reinforcement to the reverse and ferrous attachment pin. 71.3 grams total, 15-15.2cm (6"). Property of a Suffolk collector; formerly acquired on the European art market in the 1990s. [2] Fine condition, edge chipped.
3rd-4th century AD. A carved chalcedony plaque with female bust modelled in the half-round, the hair worn long and the dress gathered close to the neck. 11 grams, 28mm (1"). Property of a Bristol collector; formerly part of his father's collection formed between 1960-late 1970s. Very fine condition.
13th-6th century BC. A bronze dress pin with openwork finial formed as a facing figure flanked by heads and necks of animals in profile, the so-called 'Master of Animals' figure, mounted on a custom-made stand. 168 grams total, 21cm including stand (8 1/4"). Property of a London gentleman; previously with Boisgirard Antonini, Paris, sale 2, lot 51; formerly with Mahboubian Gallery, London, UK; acquired before 1972; accompanied by a copy of the relevant Boisgirard Antonini catalogue pages. Very fine condition.
10th-12th century AD. An iron dress pin with bronze dragon-head finial, loop to the reverse. Cf. Thunmark-Nylén, L. Die Wikingerzeit Gotlands II: Typentafeln, Stockholm, 1998, plate 288, item 1 (Gotland, SHM 8825"). 36.4 grams, 17cm (6 3/4"). Property of a professional collector; acquired before 1990. Fine condition.
