A GERMAN WHEEL-LOCK SPORTING RIFLE 17TH CENTURY AND LATER with blued octagonal sighted barrel chiselled with scrolling acanthus on a gilt ground at the muzzle, over the median and the breech, the latter stamped with a brass-lined barrelsmith's mark (rubbed), blued lock chiselled with an exotic bird and foliage on a gilt ground, fitted with sliding pan-cover with button-release and flash-guard, the dog decorated en suite with the breech, set trigger, figured hardwood full stock finely carved in low relief and enriched with polished ivory details, including a male and female portrait bust about the barrel tang, the fore-end decorated with leafy tendrils on long stalks and branches inhabited by hounds and a stag, the cheek-piece decorated with a hunter in contemporary dress taking aim at a boar, sliding patchbox-cover decorated en suite, iron mounts including trigger-guard chiselled with foliage on a gilt ground, engraved bone fore-end cap, and bone-tipped wooden ramrodA pair of pistols with related portrait bust plaquettes in ivory and also the same distinctive style of foliage are preserved in the Historieschen Museum, Dresden. A World War II German K98 combat bayonet, the 25.5cm blade stamped ‘Carl Eickhorn’, the runner ‘38’, the reverse ‘3548F’, the scabbard stamped ‘Carl Eickhorn 1939’, the reverse stamped ‘4934 h’; a ‘Ross Rifle Co, Quebec Patented 1907’ bayonet, with leather scabbard and frog; a WWI trench art fighting knife; and two War Office dress caps, each with ‘ERII’ buttons, (5).
A Victorian Royal Engineers Officer’s sword, the 32in steel blade by ‘Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London’, etched with Royal standard and foliate decoration, the reverse with ‘Royal Engineers’ and initialled ‘A.F.G.’, stamped ‘36583’, plated honeysuckle hilt, fishskin grip and diced back, leather sword knot, Sam Browne type scabbard and saddle case; and an ecclesiastical ceremonial dress sword, the 32.5in steel blade by ‘Spencer & Co, Great Queens St, London N.W.C.’, etched with crucifix on stepped plinth and foliate strapwork, the reverse conforming, with Maltese Cross brass crossguard and grip, red scabbard with brass mounts, (2).
A pair of ornately mounted porcelain plaques, French late 19th century, each of oval form, one painted with a man fishing, accompanied by two females, the second with three figures netting birds, one carrying a basket of roses, all depicted in 17th century dress. Both plaques mounted in cast and chased ormolu frames, moulded with concentric bands of beading, acanthus, fluting and acanthus and reel moulding, surmounted by tied ribbon finials. Marked ‘Rouilly’ in red to reverse. One restored. Plaque 17cm. Total width 21cm.

A pair of bronze & ormolu, ‘Egyptian’ four light candelabra, French, 19th century. Each with central bronze column modelled as female in egyptian dress, standing on top of an orb. Tripartite gilt bronze base with three bronze classical figures. The three gilt metal scroll branches hung with facet cut drops. Each 46cm high. (drilled for electric)
A rare ‘Lucille Ltd’ velvet ‘piano’ dress circa 1919 labelled Lucille Ltd 11. rue de Penthiere Paris of black velvetwith boat neckline falling in gentle gathers to broad waistband the wide kimono-like sleeves of contrasting ivory crêpe de chine applied with black ribbon ‘piano keys’ vertical plain ivory band to right skirt seam; with matching stole bust approx 97cm 38in (2) Exhibited: British Titanic Society Convention October 2003. The Lucille Ltd label was used in garments produced in her Paris Salon between 1911 and 1923.
A Christian Dior cream tapelace coat reputed to have belonged to the late SAR Princess Grace of Monaco late 1950s labelled and faintly numbered 05907 lined in cream organza of loose voluminous cut the back with box pleats falling from the shoulders chest 112cm 44in Provenance: Lots 16 35 36 & 98 were given by Princess Grace to her friend and dress designer Gladys Comptesse de Segonzac. They have formed part of a private museum collection in France for some years and a letter from the curator confirming the provenance will be supplied to the purchaser with each lot. There are also photocopies of wedding invitations personal letters and photographs from Princess Grace to Gladys de Segonzac available for inspection.
