70th (Surrey) Regiment of Foot Officer’s “Belltop” shako plate circa 1829-44 . An extremely fine and exceedingly scarce example. Large rich gilt crowned star mounted with a cut silver star bearing gilt laurel sprays, seeded gilt “70” on a domed silver ground. Beneath the wreath, a scroll inscribed “OR SURREY”. Gold lace of distinctive pattern unique to the Royal Dragoons, with braid scallops to edges. Rectangular waist-plate in frosted gilt with burnished edges, mounted with fine VR cypher and motto between oakleaf sprays. Bullion slightly dulled.

Retaining regimental pattern gilt snake clasp fastening, the two oval plates mounted with inward-facing Victorian Royal Crests, complete with matching sabretache slings with their lion’s mask billet-buckles. Lace toned with stitching faults.

Royal Navy Lieutenant’s cased cocked hat set. A fine black beaver skin example, to the left side a black silk rosette with a single twist loop mounted with a gilt post 1902 gilt button to the centre. The cocked hat is edged with one inch black lace; at each end, bullion tassels with blue lines. The interior is with leather sweatband and silk pleated lining. Tailor’s label. ... Accompanied by full dress bullion epaulettes with silver bullion foul anchor indicating the rank of Lieutenant. ... Sword belt complete with gilt regulation pattern waist clasp and sword slings. Contained in the original metal and velvet lined storage tin. GC, Bullion fresh and bright. Hat lining silk with small amount of age wear and two small holes to the exterior.
King’s Own Norfolk Yeomanry Officer’s Full Dress Uniform. A magnificent example of an Edwardian Captain’s uniform. Comprising: A blue double-breasted tunic of Lancer style, with yellow facings and piping to edges and back-seams, the collar with white metal badges in the form of the Edward VII cypher, and edged with regimental Wave pattern gold lace. Round cuffs with wide gold lace and yellow three-button slashes. Six regimental buttons in each row to front. Yellow lapels and skirt-slashes, both edged with heavy Russia braid. Plaited gold shoulder-cords bearing Captain’s badges in silver embroidery ... Together with a pair of blue cavalry-twill pantaloons with 1 ¾ in. yellow stripes, both VGC. (2 items)
Royal Irish Constabulary Ballymahon Officer’s Full Dress Tunic and Overalls. A very rare example for a District Inspector 1st Class, by JB Johnstone. Fine black cloth, edged and trimmed with black square cord. Black velvet collar (never fitted with collar-badges) and cuffs, both edged and trimmed with black braid as for Field Officers of Rifle regiments. Five loops of square cord with netted caps each side on front, fastened with woven olivettes, and forming three “bullet holes” above and below, and a trefoil at the ends. A double row of square cord on the backseams, traced with Russia braid and forming a trefoil at the top and an Austrian knot below the waist. Plaited shoulder-cords with netted buttons. Black quilted lining bearing tailor’s label to HG Moriarty, Esq. One shoulder-button absent, lining slightly frayed, minor moth damage, otherwise GC ... Together with a pair of black cloth Full Dress overalls bearing 1¾ in. stripes of black ‘Shamrock’ lace. Leather foot-straps. Severe moth damage to overalls ... Together also with a pair of sword-slings of black glazed sealskin with white metal fittings, attached to a black web underbelt. VGC (3 items)District Inspector H. Moriarty was posted to Ballymahon in 1906. County Inspectors also wore the same pattern of tunic. The official description includes the term “bullet holes”.

A fine and rare Service Dress tunic of the distinctive pale khaki cavalry twill material worn by the Bays, with patch breast pockets and internal pockets below the waist. Fitted with worn QVC regimental mounted buttons and Colonel’s scarlet gorget patches. Medal ribbons of the OBE, MVO,WW1 and WW2 (including the Africa Star), GSM ’18 and 1937 Coronation. Rank badges absent otherwise VGC ... A blue serge patrol jacket, with patch pockets and regimental KC brass buttons. Medal ribbons much as on the Service Dress. Metal badges absent from shoulder-straps otherwise GC ... An officer’s universal pattern greatcoat, also with KC regimental buttons, and metal rank-badges for a Brigadier Near VGC. (3 items)Attributed to Maj.-Gen. Evelyn Dalrymple Fanshawe. His was a noted Queen’s Bays family. His father, a Lieut.-Gen., had commanded them, and was later Col. of the regiment. Commissioned into the Bays in 1914, Evelyn served in the RFC 1915-19. He commanded the Bays for their final phase as mounted cavalry. The QVC buttons were probably his father’s.
Royal Engineers Militia Edward VII Officers’ Full Dress Tunic. Scarlet tunic with blue velvet collar, cuffs and edging to fronts and skirts. The collar edged with gold Staff/RE lace to top and fronts, within a row of basket cord, and fitted with large grenades in silver embroidery. The cuffs edged with gold cord traced with Russia, forming an Austrian knot at the point. Buttons with Edward VII cypher. Massive gold shoulder-cords of RE pattern, bearing a single star and initial M in silver embroidery. Some moth damage and staining, lining defective ... together with a fine pair of blue overalls with 2 in. scarlet stripes ... and together also with an earlier Royal Engineer Volunteer officer’s scarlet mess vest edged with silver Russia braid and studs to front. Pocket openings also with Russia decoration. (3 items)
German Third Reich Hitler Youth Knife by Tiger, Solingen. The blade stamped with maker’s Tiger logo, circular RZM device and “M7/68”, nickel plated curved quillon and pommel, black chequered composition grip inlaid with red and white HJ swastika diamond-shaped emblem. Scabbard absent, blade stained and with specks of rust, nickel fittings slightly rubbed ... together with a Dress bayonet by Eickhorn, the fine 19.5cm plated steel fullered blade stamped with maker’s ‘double-squirrel’ logo. Black-painted pommel and curved quillon, stag-horn scales to the grip. Housed in its black painted scabbard. (2 items)
