A Royal Naval Officer’s sword, c 1835, curved, pipe backed blade 30”, lightly etched with crown, fouled anchor and crowned 1816-37 R Arms within panels, copper gilt half basket hilt incorporating crowned fouled anchor, turn down inner portion, lion’s head pommel and facetted backstrap, wirebound sharkskin grip, in its leather scabbard with gilt locket, middle band and chape, 2 rings; together with a post 1902 RN sword belt and slings and a dress knot (AF). Very Good Condition for age, retaining much original poolish to blade, and approx 50% gilt to hilt and scabbard mounts (minor pitting patches to blade edges, scabbard leather some wear) Plate 23
An 1796 pattern Georgian officerÂ’s dress sword, slightly curved, pipe backed blade 31½Â”, finely etched for two thirds length with crowned 1801-16 Royal Arms on trophy of flags, stylized urn, trophies of arms and instruments, laurel wreaths, foliage and scrolls, heavy steel facetted hilt with squared curl quillon, langets, knucklebow into forward sloping pommel and backstrap, wirebound dark fishskin grip. A North American Indian on horseback, Egyptian on camel, Guards bass drummer and standard bearer, plus a small quantity of other figures, WWII infantry and infantry in scarlet running etc. QGC-VGC some chipping and wear.
