The image shows a woman in red lipstick and a red evening dress on a yellow and blue background next to a glass of red wine with stylised red, blue, yellow and orange text. Beaujolais nouveau is a red nouveau wine / vin de primeur – a wine that is released in the same year it is harvested. Produced in the Beaujolais region of France, it is famously released for sale on the third Thursday of November. Strict rules established by the Institut National des Appellations d’Origine exact that the wine may not be sold before this date – in the 1960s, this led to races to sell the first bottle in Paris, and races amongst English driving clubs to bring home the most bottles of the nouveau wine. Set of six original vintage advertising posters from the series about coffee production in Africa. 1. John and his father plant seeds in a coffee nursery. John is 6 years old. He lives with his family on a coffee farm on a mountainside in Africa. The weather there is warm and sunny just the right amount of rain to make the coffee trees grow well. - featuring a colourful illustration of a little boy in red shirt and white shorts holding coffee seeds in a bowl while standing next to his father who is planting coffee beans into the ground, with palm and mountains in the distance and lush green leaves framing the illustration. Horizontal. Good condition, creasing, browning on edges, small punched holes in left bottom corner, foxing. On card. 2. John looks at the coffee blossom. John's father works hard for many years so that the coffee trees will grow well. John is now 11 and is shown the lovely white sweet smelling flowers on all the coffee trees. - featuring a colourful illustration of a boy in red shirt and his father in pink shirt next to the coffee trees in blossom. Horizontal. Good condition, creasing, browning on edges, small punched holes in left bottom corner, foxing. 3. John and his family pick the coffee cherries. A few weeks after the coffee trees have blossomed, John finds little green berries on the branches. These berries slowly change colour and about six months later they look like bright red cherries. It is harvest time and all his family and other families who live nearby help to pick the cherries. - featuring a colourful illustration of little boy and girl picking coffee cherries into baskets and buckets and a lady in a red dress and yellow headscarf pouring coffee into a large yellow sack. Horizontal. Good condition, creasing, browning on edges, small punched holes in left bottom corner, foxing. On card. 4. The red cherries are put into the machine. Johns father takes the sacks of berries to a processing plant. There they are put into a machine and all of the soft red flesh is taken away leaving only coffee beans. There are two beans inside each cherry. These beans are put into tanks full of water and washed very well. They are then left to dry in the sunshine. - featuring a colourful illustration of factory workers putting the coffee cherries into the machines for processing. Horizontal. Good condition, creasing, browning on edges, foxing. On card. 5. Coffee being tasted. When the beans are quite dry John and his father put them into large sacks and take them to the town to sell them. The man who buys the coffee beans has a lot of people helping him sort out the beans. He also makes coffee from the beans and tastes it to see how good it is. The coffee from John's farm is very good because his father has taken such good care of it. - featuring a colourful illustration of an office with people in white coats holding spoons and tasting different coffee types, with sacks of coffee in the background. With some of the money they get for their coffee they buy presents for John and his sister and a sewing machine so that his mother can make clothes for the family. Growing coffee is hard work and takes many years but John's father is please and things it is worthwhile. - featuring a colourful illustration of a little boy in red shirt and white shorts carrying a roll of fabric over his shoulder and a teddy bear, and his father carrying a box with groceries and a sewing machine on his head, with chickens feeding next to a house with a silhouette of a waving person, surrounded with lush green trees and plants. Original vintage propaganda poster insert published during the Civil War in Spain by the Republican Estudios magazine titled Octavo mandamiento: No mentiras / Eighth commandment: no lies, with a photomontage / collage of images of people's bodies covered in blood, image of a crowd overlaid with an image of bayonets, the black sign reads - Official statement: The most absolute order and tranquillity reign throughout the country. - the reverse of the poster is titled Los nuevos ouenos del mundo / The new dreams of the world, with an illustration of a hand with sharp red nails squeezing a globe in chains, and photographs of Italy, German Nazi saluting Hitler, Goebbels, Mussolini, Rockefeller, Goering, Hindenburg. The Spanish Civil War was a civil war in Spain fought from 1936 to 1939. Republicans loyal to the left-leaning Popular Front government of the Second Spanish Republic, in alliance with anarchists, of the communist and syndicalist variety, fought against an insurrection by the Nationalists, an alliance of Falangists, monarchists, fascists, conservatives and traditionalists, led by a military group among whom General Francisco Franco soon achieved a preponderant role. Due to the international political climate at the time, the war had many facets and was variously viewed as class struggle, a religious struggle, a struggle between dictatorship and republican democracy, between revolution and counterrevolution, and between fascism and communism. According to Claude Bowers, U.S. ambassador to Spain during the war, it was the "dress rehearsal" for World War II. The Nationalists won the war, which ended in early 1939, and ruled Spain until Franco's death in November 1975. Josep Renau Berenguer (17 May 1907 — 11 November 1982) was an artist and communist revolutionary notable for his propaganda work during the Spanish Civil War. Original antique magazine La Plume, featuring Art Nouveau cover art by Alphonse Mucha, depicting a young lady in a long dress surrounded by stylised leaves and plants with a horse's head above, the magazine features articles on Almost Natural History Of Stratifies Psycho Physiology of the "Elector"; Through The Press; as well as advertising for various events and locations. Leon Deschamps set up La Plume in 1889; it was a French literary and artistic review magazine issued bi-monthly, supporting young artists and writers. The magazine often used illustrations by famous artists – Wilette, Forain, Grasset, Toulouse-Lautrec, Gauguin, Signac, etc, the last issue of the magazine was in 1914. Alfons Maria Mucha (24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939), known internationally as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech painter, illustrator, and graphic artist, living in Paris during the Art Nouveau period, best known for his distinctly stylized and decorative theatrical posters, particularly those of Sarah Bernhardt. He produced illustrations, advertisements, decorative panels, and designs, which became among the best-known images of the period. Lot 1197

A scarce Argentinean Field Officers dress sword, circa 1860, the brass hilt with aged patina, coat of arms of Argentina and seal of the army, 79 cms blade etched with trophies of arms, slight rust to top and tip slightly bent. The steel scabbard painted black with brass mounts, lacking part of the top and rust marks. This sword is almost identical to the USA model 1860 and was probably made there, no makers marks visible.
