CIRCLE OF SIR GODFREY KNELLER (1646-1723) "Lady in lace trimmed dress with jewelled collar ring and embroidered red shawl", a portrait study, half length, within an oval, oil on canvas, unsigned, 76 cm x 63.5 cm CONDITION REPORTS Crazing to the paint over the entire picture. An area of loss to the paint in the lower left corner. Some accretions and surface scratches, areas of discolouration. There is what appears to be a small blister or area of loss to the top of one of the breasts. The painting appears to have originally been housed in an oval frame. Under UV lights the painting has been cleaned in areas, there are areas of repainting and touching up mainly to the top of the painting above the sitter's head and possibly parts of the shawl and some areas of the dress. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.

SCHOOL OF JOSEPH HIGHMORE (1692-1780) "Lady in lace trimmed white silk dress with blue striped bow at her breast with blue shawl, her left hand upon the bow", a portrait study within an oval, half length, oil on canvas, unsigned, approx 76 cm x 63 cm CONDITION REPORTS Painting has areas of crazing to the paint throughout, some accretions and light surface scratches, areas of dust and possibly could do with a clean. Under UV light there are numerous areas of restoration mainly to parts of the face and neck and some areas of restoration or touching up to the corners and to the arm, some areas of the dress as well. Painting has wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.
ATTRIBUTED TO JAMES FRANCIS MAUBERT (1666-1740) "Son & daughters of Richard Clarke Esq. 1727.", an elegant full length family portrait, one daughter holding aloft a goldfinch and basket of flowers also held by the eldest daughter, a fan in her left hand, both wearing elaborate embroidered shoes, the youngest daughter and son holding an English partridge, a dog to his left, oil on canvas, unsigned, titled top right, approx 151 cm x 196 cm CONDITION REPORTS Over all appearance good throughout though the piece has been relined. Under ultraviolet light areas of touched up craquelure visible to all four figures particularly around the facial areas and breast - see images under ultraviolet for further detail. The eldest daughter with most repainting particularly to the face and breast area. The younger daughter to the right with repainting to her right shoulder area on the dress. An area of repainting to the right of the boy's head - see images for further detailing.Re Frame: Whilst has some age it appears to have been renovated at some period in the past, probably within the 20th Century, including regilding, filling etc, difficult to know if frame original, likelyhood probably not and probably later in manufacture. Condition generally sound though with two areas of cracking/minor loss to the left hand side. See images

Some marks to the underarms. The red and black evening dress has some fraying as well to the underarms. It looks as though the sleeves are coming apart a bit. An 18th Century dummy board as a lady of quality, a leaf-shaped fan in her right hand, oil on canvas laid on panel, 90.4 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Numerous surface scratches and scuffs and accretions. Numerous areas of loss to the paint throughout but mainly to the dress. Areas of wear and loss to the paint, small chips and knocks to the wood around the edge of the piece. Some crazing to the paint in areas. A possible old repair to an area of the chest. An old repair and evidence of glue on the back to the piece where the ran connects to the head. Item could do with a clean. Wear and scuffs to the ebonised wood on the back of the piece and some blistering to parts of the ebonised book. General wear and tear conducive with age and use.
