A Mid-19th Century Bone Fan, with double paper leaf, the recto with a pastoral scene of a group of friends and sheep, the verso with a couple and two young ladies in fine dress, the older lady holding a fan. The monture has simple carving and piercing. Guard length 27.5cm; and A Mid-19th Century Bone Fan, with brightly coloured double paper leaf, the monture pierced and gilded. The recto depicts several boats on the sea, the occupants and styles of boat at variance but throughout the scene winged cherubs assist the journey, with a paddle, with a rope to pull and a cherub to push, Cupid flying the skies to the right. The reserves, in gold and teal, also feature cherubs in sailing boats. The borders, gilded with floral detail, have further roundels containing cherubs. The verso, in strong dark blue with gilding, featuring a bird to each side, has a central cartouche of two young ladies relaxing with a book in the garden. Guard length 27cm (2)Fan 1 - Some splitting and foxing to the leaf, the monture has losses to the decoration. Fan 2 - The leaf is completely split open in the centre and there are three further large splits to other folds. Slightly warped, seen when closed. Loss to the top of the upper guard.
