Two late 19th century cabinet plates in the manner of Vienna, both finely painted with a portrait of a female beauty, the first depicting semi nude classical lady within an ornate gilt border painted with white flowers and foliage on alternating teal and light blue ground, the second depicting a lady in pink dress adorned with flowers within white border with raised gilt foliate motifs, interspersed with four deep red roundels with gilt garden scenes, both marked Wagner and with blue beehive marks, one marked Dresden, and entitled 'Babarere' and Ustana, D25cm
After François Boucher: 'Portrait of Madame de Pompadour, 1758', a 19th / early 20th century copy after the original depicting the Marquise de Pompadour who became in 1745 the favourite mistress of King Louis XV, seated relining in a garden or woods wearing a sumptuous white silk dress and holding a book, in Rococo 17th-century taste, oil on canvas, unsigned, labelled verso 'The How, April 19th 1902', 66.5 by 53cm, in a gilt frame, 85 by 72cm.Condition: There is a small area of paint loss around the lady's elbow, as well as widespread craquelure.
