An Russian pre-1910 embroidered waistcoat and handkerchief case, the gentleman's hand made cream waistcoat having small floral motifs to the front and a wide border and flaps to pockets decorated with flowers and leaves in browns, greens, pinks, yellows and blues, designed to take dress studs, chest measurement 105cm, the satin case embroidered in brown and blue with flowers.Footnote: Provenance - The family of Albert and Nora McGill, thence by descent. The McGill family were influential industrialists who are accredited for playing a significant role in the founding of Russia's cotton mill industry in the mid-19th century. As a prominent British family living in 19th century Moscow, they formed close family ties with other British families based in the city, such as the Shanks, and the Bowes, as well as the Russian aristocracy. Albert's first cousin, Emma, married Allan Bowe who had close ties with the Faberge lineage, and became their retail representative in London in the early 20th century.

7th-mid 6th century BC. A carved carnelian Neo-Babylonian cylinder seal with worshipping scene; a male worshipper in a globular head-dress, wearing a long, vertically-striated and fringed robe, stands facing right, pointing with his raised left hand and extending the right, palm up, towards two deities who face him; the front god, also in a globular head-dress, wearing a vertically-striated, open robe over a kilt, both fringed, raises his left hand, palm up; in the right extended he holds a double-topped mace with two balls on each end; from his back protrude three rays, each ending in a globe; between worshipper and god are above the Pleiades (but one globe absent) and below the tasselled spade (MAR / marru), the symbol of Marduk, the chief god of Babylon; right behind the god a second with a high globular head-dress seats on a throne with a high back, ending up in a ball, wearing a long fringed robe he raises his left hand, palm up, and holds in his right extended a ring of seven drill-holes; above between the both deities is a crescent; a vertical row of four stars serves as a scene separator; thus on this seal the three deities Marduk, Venus-Star and the Pleiades are worshipped; line borders at top and bottom; accompanied by a museum-quality impression. 15th-16th century AD. A mixed group of eight silver ring brooches including gilt lozenge, wreath, granulated collar and other types. See Egan, G. & Pritchard, F. From an private Wiltshire jewellery collection; collection numbers 144, 145, 150, 151, 154, 155, 159, 161; acquired on the UK and European art markets between 1986 and 1994. 14th-15th century AD. A decorated gold finger ring with slender D-shaped hoop, an ellipsoid bezel with large granule to each shoulder surrounded by a beaded collar and granule clusters; the oval cell with inset large, deep purple-red garnet cabochon of excellent quality. Found Stow, West Lindsey, Lincolnshire, UK; accompanied by a copy of the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) report number LANCUM-CA6A2, and a copy of two letters from HM Coroner for Central Lincolnshire, disclaiming the Crown's interest under Treasure reference number 2016 T626. Very fine condition, repair to hoop. Rare.
1st century BC-2nd century AD. A substantial bronze statuette of standing Fortuna (Greek Tyche) wearing a peplos and loosely draped mantle, silver clasps holding the dress, long hair dressed in curls and pulled back in a chignon with two loose curls falling on the shoulders, holding a cornucopia in her left arm, right arm bent at wrist with open hand to accept rudder. 335 grams, 13cm (5"). Property of a Dutch gentleman; formerly in an old Dutch collection formed in the 1970s. [No Reserve] Very fine condition.
20th century BC. A carved red jasper Isin-Larsa Period cylinder seal with presentation scene before a seated god; a worshipping woman in an open robe with fringed borders, raising her right hand, is led by the suppliant goddess on the left arm, this goddess in a flounced robe and with a multiple-horned head-dress, stands before an enthroned, bearded god who is also in a flounced robe, with a crested cap, sitting on a flounced stool, on a dais, holding a cup in his right raising hand; above between the both deities are the crescent moon with sun disk, behind the god a five-line inscription, line borders at top and bottom; accompanied by a museum quality seal impression.
