Fish How to Choose and How to Dress first edition errata f. at end title lightly browned some spotting or light foxing later half calf spine gilt spine slightly faded [Bitting p.237 (second edition); Cagle 765; Oxford p.173] 1843; and a second edition in original cloth of his Choice and Cookery of Fish 8vo (2) *** Alan Davidson in his A Kipper with my Tea " describes the first mentioned work as "the first book published in Great Britain - possibly the first in the world -devoted to fish cookery".
Cookery/Medical.- Slapp (Thomas) [Recipes] manuscript in a fine clear eighteenth century hand 64pp. some tears and chipped edges with some loss slight water-staining affecting a few ff. browned throughout signed several times on inside wrappers: "Thomas Slapp 1784" but almost certainly older and not by a man loose as issued original marbled wrappers worn with loss folio [eighteenth century]; and a modern printed copy of the same " folio & 8vo (2). *** Almost certainly the household recipe book of a lady from the mid-eighteenth century. The Royal Artillery - three full dress and undress sabretaches displayed in a mahogany case, comprising a Victorian officer`s full dress sabretache, gilt lace border, embroidered Royal Arms and supporters, motto scrolls, oak and laurel sprays, with solid gilt cannon, complete with its velvet lined black leather foul weather cover; together with another similar, the lions and unicorn with glass eyes; and a black leather undress sabretache, with gilt metal `Northern Division` regimental device, the case 41.5 x 18.5in.
