The Coronation dress of Dr. John Dodson, one of the Barons chosen to carry the canopy over King George IV at his Coronation 1821, (Britain's most extravagant Coronation). The doublet, breeches and sur coat is of Jacobean style in red and blue silk with red stockings (the white shoes and black bonnet are not present). Very Good Condition (shoulder bow tassels shortened on one side, minor wear and damage, a few small holes to stockings). Note: Doctor John Dodson (1780-1858), 1819-1823 Tory MP for Rye, appointed by the Duke of Wellington to the Office of Advocate to the Admiralty Court. Advocate General in 1834 and Knighted at St James's Palace in the same year, became Master of Faculties in 1841 and Vicar General in 1849. Judge of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury 1852 and Dean of Arches Court until his death. His only son, John George Dodson, was elected MP for East Sussex in 1857 and created Lord Monk Bretton in 1884.
A good late 18th century officer's dress smallsword, hollow triangular blade 34 3/4", etched blued and gilt with trophy of arms and scrolls, and with simulated damascus pattern for the rest of its length, gilt hilt with engraved guard, slightly down turned quillons, and urn pommel, the guard, quillon terminals and pommel mounted with facetted steel beads, the chain knuckleow also formed of facetted steel beads, copper wire bound grip, in its engraved gilt brass mounted white painted parchment covered scabbard, the locket engraved "Langford, No 50, Fleet Street". Good Condition,(some rust to steel beads, scabbard paint worn, tip of scabbard almost detached) (Please see lot 124 for image)

Britains soldiers: 18 Scots in kilts in 3 position firing red jackets and white helmets and officer with binoculars; plus 7 later version marching in tartan trews rifles sloped and 5 standing Hussar figures in full dress. QGC - GC (Repainting to approx 1/4, mostly minor wear, a few rifles damaged)
