A Victorian officer’s sword of The Royal Artillery, slightly curved, fullered blade 32" by Wilkinson, no 11276 (for 1861) on backstrap, nicely etched with crowned VR cypher on one side and winged lightning with scrolls “Royal” and “Artillery” on the other, all in tightly scrolled panels, with owner’s crest, motto and initials “CL” on one side at forte, steel hilt with knucklebow, sideloop and 2 sidebars, forward sloping stepped pommel, chequered thumbpiece to backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its scabbard with 2 rings; with photostat details of Sir Charles Larcom, including copy of entry in Wilkinson’s register for 1861, small head and shoulders photo in full dress, entry in Burkes Peerage, etc. Good Condition, a clean example. †A continental dress sword, slender SE blade 31½”, etched with trophy of arms within scrolled panels, brass hilt, the upturned shell guard with raised inner edges, the inner portion hinged upwards, facetted knucklebow and ornamental urn shaped pommel with prominent cap stud, simulated wirebound grip, with gilt bullion knot in its leather scabbard with brass chape and locket with long frog hook. GC (some small pitting patches to blade). Plate 6
A Household Cavalry officer’s levée dress sword, c1840, straight, fullered blade 33” (tip slightly shortened) with maker’s name “Andrews 9 Pall Mall London” in etched panel on one side at forte, gilt semi boat-shell hilt (the inner portion of the guard officially removed), reinforced edge, upswept quillon, the guard screwed into ball pommel, silver wirebound grip, in a non matching brass mounted leather scabbard. Good Condition, the blade retaining much original polish. Plate 43
†A Victorian officer’s full dress embroidered blue cloth sabretache of The Royal Regiment of Artillery, bearing the Royal Arms and supporters with a wreath of oak and laurel, motto scrolls “Ubique” and “Quo Fas et Gloria Ducunt” and a solid gilt cannon, blue cloth background, gilt lace border, leather pouch backing, 3 gilt suspension ‘dees’, 13½” x 11” overall. Good Condition (minor wear). Plate 16
A rare Third Reich TeNo (Technische Nothilfe) Leader’s dagger, the blade etched with the TeNo eagle and original Eickhorn logo, and numbered 0970, the hilt with oxidised silver finish, orange grip and silver bullion portepee, in its scabbard, the iron throat also numbered 0970 (slightly indistinct owing to pitting of the throat), with its original dress pattern hanging straps, with distinctive cogwheel buckles. Good Condition. Bowman describes this as “probably one of the rarest of the Third Reich production daggers”, as the numbers produced were relatively small.

History of the British Army Redcoats- Colour Sergeant Bourne & Private 24th Foot Rorke’s Drift 1879 43156. The War Along The Nile series – British Dismounted Camel Corps NCO wounded No.1 27032. 2 Britains Collection The Middlesex Regiment Band, 10 Bandsmen marching. Plus, Lifeguards, one mounted and 2 standing with sentry box. Also a Queen’s Silver Jubilee 1952-1977 set of 6 figures – Guards, Yeoman and Lifeguards. All boxed, some wear to a few. †A good Victorian officer’s full dress embroidered scarlet cloth sabretache of the 15th (the King’s) Hussars, bearing a Guelphic crown above the Royal Crest on a trophy of arms, all within wreaths bearing 8 battle honour scrolls “Emsdorf” to “Afghanistan”, regimental lace pattern border, red leather pouch backing, 3 suspension ‘dees’, 13” x 10¾” overall. †A pair of well detailed watercolour paintings of French Third Empire Cavalry by the famous French military artist Edouard Detaille, one showing a mounted Chasseur à Cheval in full dress with helmet, and equipment including carbine, the other showing a dismounted Hussar in service dress with kepi, sword and slung carbine, standing beside his horse, the first signed “Edouard Detaille 89”, each 15” x 12½”, well mounted and framed in gilt, 23” x 20” overall. A fine World War I Admiralty prize dirk, blade 18" double edged towards point, by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London and retailed by Gieve, Matthews & Seagrove Ltd, London Portsmouth & Devonport, etched with crowned fouled anchor on one side and crowned GVR cypher with presentation inscription “Admiralty Prize, Seamanship R.N. College, Keyham, 1916, Cadet Capt. J.G. Deneys”, gilt hilt with applied fouled anchor in crowned wreath to crossguard with acorn finials, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wirebound white sharkskin grip, with dress knot (minor wear) in its gilt mounted leather scabbard with locking catch to guard and 2 opposing rings.
