Two dresses of Celia Birtwell printed chiffon, recently made by Kathleen Coleman using cut but un-used 1970s dress panels from Ossie Clark's studio, un-labelled, in variations of the 'Tulip' print, one showing faint inked construction lines, busts approx 86-96cm, 34-38in (2) Provenance: Kathleen Coleman, worked as Ossie Clark's machinist at Quorum and acquired the fabrics at that time. CONDITION REPORT: good condition. Unworn- The 'Tulip' print with pleated skirt has visible blue lines drawn to show construction and decoration lines.

Mustard brown wool dress - rear bodice darts have been let out and front darts moved, has one small greasemark at front right bodice, faint and not immediately obvious. Orange suit jacket and dress - faint deodorant/perspiration marks to underarm linings. Coral wool dress - scattering of pinhead moth holes, embroidery is good. Turquoise wool dress - scattering of pinhead sized moth holes to right shoulder and near hem, perspiration stains at underarms to interior not visible to exterior. Red wool dress - soil spot near rear left hem, deodorant/perspiration stains at underarms to interior not visible to exterior.

Two English printed cotton patchwork coverlets, one with mainly buff ground and 'grandmother's garden' mosaic with 1830s foliate cotton borders, 280 by 206cm; the other formed from floral blocks interspersed with chequerboards in 1830s-60s patches, 210cm square (2) CONDITION REPORT: 'Buff' patchwork - lined in plain white cotton, broad printed outer border has added later (machine stitched on), buff ground patchwork is scattered overall with small rust spots, approx. 15 areas with damage, numerous small darned repairs. Fair condition. Second patchwork - backed in shirtings/dress fabrics, wear to the buff patches on this side, topside is generally fresh with strong colours, faint brown discolourations in places.

Large rectangle of discolouration to front of skirt 22x10cm. Small area of discolouration near lace at back right and sticker mark to back left.

An Ossie Clark embroidered crepe 'Stars and Moon' dress, circa 1971, woven black on ivory label, with suede waistband and key-hole bodice, bust 86cm, 34in CONDITION REPORT: Waist 66cm, 26in. Black crepe is generally good, embroidery is bright and good - the odd loose thread. Would benefit from cleaning, has soiling to rear skirt but looks as though it would clean out. Leather waistband lining is detached and needs gluing back in place if so desired. Suede front opening and waistband are soiled also and would benefit from cleaning.

May have been shortened, length is more appropriate for the 40s. Lacking one button nearest hem. Ever so slightly soiled (would benefit from cleaning). 3 darned moth holes near hem centre back. 1 moth hole to rear collar. Very nice piece.

Very small hole in bust area. Very faint light brown stain to centre front skirt 6x1cm. 2 more similar to rear left hip area. Faint watermark to right rear hem approx. 33x20cm. All very hard to see and not immediately obvious

A Jeanne Lafaurie couture embroidered ivory satin sheath, late 1950s, labelled, with integral tulle corset, pleated asymmetric shoulder strap, side slit to hem, embroidered overall with palmettes in ivory mohair, couched gold thread, rhinestone studs, bust approx 81cm, 32in, waist 61cm, 24in CONDITION REPORT: Overall impression is fresh and good, would benefit from cleaning. Embroidery is intact and good with occasional losses of rhinestones and floating threads. Gathered satin needs re-stitching in places at bodice. Edges of satin bodice are soiled. Satin has come unstitched at side zip 7cm long and there is a 3cm tear here also (easily repaired). Interior corset is a bit grubby and breast cups are frayed. Hem has been raised approx. 5cm and is soiled. Dress is unlined.

A Christian Dior London shot turquoise/grey silk cocktail ensemble, late 1950s, labelled and numbered 34655, the lightly boned dress and matching jacket edged in silver and gold sequins, bust 81-86cm, 32-34in (2) CONDITION REPORT: Perspiration stains at underarms on the dress. Dress has been shortened by moving the bodice lower down over the skirt and tacking in place which could be easily unpicked. Dress has been taken in at the rear bodice closure also. Perspiration stains at underarms and slight wear to lining of jacket in those areas also. A couple of barely visible spot stains to front left chest area.

A beaded black chiffon tabard dress, circa 1924-5, covered with a shimmer of black bugle beads with blue beaded flowerheads, open down one skirt side with waist tie, bust approx 92cm, 36in; together with a bias cut chiffon dress c.1929 with Joseph Urban print of stylised peacocks, bust approx 92cm, 36in; and a pair of 1930s Japanese kimono style printed rayon pyjamas in original box (qty) CONDITION REPORT: Dress - generally good condition, beading is good with no obvious losses. Chiffon ground is sturdy and good, looks little worn. There are a few floating strands of black bugle beads but we have secured these and loose beads are in a bag. Peacock chiffon dress - print by Joseph Urban, good condition, no problems. Pyjamas and kimono are unworn - box is a bit battered.

A green and red damask satin day dress, late 1850s-early 1860s, adorned with simple ribbon bands, bust approx 86cm, 34in; together with a brocaded yellow satin ball gown by Madame Durhart of London, c.1900; and a Valenciennes inset petticoat (qty) CONDITION REPORT: Perspiration stains at underarms on 1860 dress, bodice decorations largely lacking on the yellow satin gown and waistband on skirt has been altered, chiffon overlay on bodice is torn, split in satin at right underarm. Petticoat is good condition.

A beaded and embroidered golden tulle evening dress, circa 1928-9, the ground entirely covered with metal seed beaded peonies, with sequined medallions to the scalloped hem with tulle flounce, bust approx 92cm, 36in CONDITION REPORT: Tulle is thinning over shoulders - but could be easily re-backed. Beadwork is generally good. Large tears in tulle ground to two large rose motifs on front of dress and occasional scattered small holes in tulle in damaged areas, needs re-backing to be wearable.

A beaded and embroidered couture ivory chiffon bridal or presentation tunic-dress, circa 1928, adorned with couched love knots, rhinestones, floss silk and bugle beaded bands, bust approx 92cm, 36in; together with an ivory chiffon and silver lace edged trained with large pearl and silver beaded bow; and a quantity of lingerie c.1900-20 (qty) CONDITION REPORT: Dress: faint champagne stain to back right neck-bodice area, dress would have been worn with a silk underslip which is missing, embroidery and beading are good, slight tarnishing to love-knots on shoulders. Train: it is non-matching with the dress, though similar colours and dress has pres-studs to attach. Gold lace and pearl bead embroidery is generally good but numerous scattered small holes and 8x6cm L-shaped tear. Lingerie: fair/poor condition, silk nightie has tear at left underarm, matching knickers have a rip rear waist centre back, monogrammed split drawers have a few holes and repairs, lace trim has been removed from neck edge of bed cape.
