Two very small inverse dents in the top left corner of the picture. No evidence of any damage or repairs/restoration.

GILBERT MASON A.R.C.A., R.B.S.A. (1913 - 1972) Framed, signed in pencil to margin, drypoint etching on paper, three quarter length portrait of seated woman holding flowers, dedicated in pen to margin, 'to Jenefer 1965'. Mason was friend and lodger the sitter Jenefer Reeves. Mason was head of the school of painting at the Birmingham College of Art, as well as exhibiting internationally, including at the R.A. in 1935 and again posthumously in 1973, 34cm x 22.1cm.

§ Alice Maher (Irish, b. 1956) Fever Bush signed lower right "Alice Maher" and inscribed "The Snail Chronicles (fever bush)" etching, numbered 3/30, Stoney Road Press blind stamp 28½ x 28½cm (11 x 11in) Provenance: The Purdy Hicks Gallery, 65 Hopton Street, Bankside, London, SE1; Kettle's Yard, Cambridge. Condition is fine.

§ Anthony Gross, RA, CBE (British, 1905-1984) Farguettes, a shepherdess minding her flock signed lower right "Anthony Gross" etching 31 x 49cm (12 x 19in) Anthony Gross was an English painter and printmaker who trained in Paris, Madrid and London from 1923-1925, before deciding to make France his home. Although he created a few animated films between 1931 and 1939 including the "Fox Hunt" and "The Nativity", possibly his most notable achievement was in the Second World War. Gross was commissioned as a temporary captain in 1941, continuing on to India, travelled up a river in Burma by sampan to the British front lines in Arakan. He then accompanied the D-Day landings in Normandy on the 6th June 1944 striding ashore Gold Beach apparently holding his sketchbooks and canvasses above his head. A little browning.

Under plastic which is cracked - image is good and clear.

Image is clear and good.

§ Valerie Thornton (British, 1931-1991) The Guild Hall, Lavenham, Suffolk signed lower right "Valerie Thornton '77" and numbered 39/250 etching and aquatint 37 x 50cm (14 x 20in) Valerie Thornton studied at the Regent Street Polytechnic School of Art from 1950-1953. In 1954 she went to Paris and studied printmaking with the renowned print maker Stanley William Hayter at Atelier 17. Thornton then moved to New York studying at the Pratt Institute. Her first exhibition was held in 1960 followed by shows in England and America. Valerie Thornton loved the churches of East Anglia and in the 1970s made etchings of ecclesiastical and architectural subjects, travelling extensively in France, Italy and Spain. Valerie Thornton's work is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Condition appears fine.

Lots of flies under the glass. Inscription is faint. Images good.
