AFTER VALERIE THORNTON (1931-1991) "St Aignan, Orléans". study of a stained glass window, coloured etching, limited edition No'd 39/45, numbered bottom left, titled centre, signed and dated '89 bottom right, 42 cm x 32.5 cm (ARR) CONDITION REPORTS Overall good clear impression, though with two small brown spot marks top middle of the white margin and top left of the white margin (see images).
GIOVANNI BATTISTA PIRANESI (1720 - 1778) etching from the 'Carceri' series - plate I, the title page, second state printed 1761 numbered I to upper left and signed 'Piranesi f' to lower left, details verso, framed Image has been removed from frame to inspect. Some foxing to back of paper but not visible through etching and no damage. Well-preserved.
GIOVANNI BATTISTA PIRANESI (1720 - 1778) etching from the 'Carceri' series - plate X, 'Prisoners on a Projecting Platform' second state printed 1761 numbered X to upper right and signed 'Piranesi f' to lower left with watermark verso, details on the back of the mounting board, framed Watermark is present but barely visible to the naked eye - impossible to capture with camera. Previous owner has circled the mark in pencil and inscribed 'water mark' over it. Image has been removed from frame to inspect. Some foxing to back of paper but not visible through etching and no damage. Well-preserved.
