An 18th century hunting hanger, curved, fullered blade 20” (slightly shortened during its working life), with narrow back fuller, etched with flower heads in foliate panels (etching worn), brass hilt, the turn down shell guard embossed with classical figure in stylized foliage, with quillon, loop to knuckelbow and flattened cap shaped pommel, the top (split) embossed with running deer and dogs, horn grip. Basically GC for age (hilt loose). Plate 5

OLD MASTERS ETCHING - `Studies of the Head of Saskia and Other Women` by Harmensz van Rijn Rembrandt (Dutch, 1606-1669), signed in plate lower left and dated 1636, Saskia (top center) was Rembrandt`s wife, printed on laid paper, probably an early 18th c restrike from the original plate, unframed, trimmed, sheet size 5 5/8" x 4 5/8", toned, lower left corner bent, very short tear to left edge. (Usticke 12, B. 365).
