Cranes I Ann Dergara Embossed Metal - Mounted and Framed 47x98cmThe enthusiasm with which Ann Dergara approaches her art is a lifelong passion. Born to Norwegian German parents who recognized and nurtured her creative abilities, the Greenville, South Carolina native sold her first painting five years prior to beginning her formal education at Georgia State University. In 1978, a printmaking course at Atlanta College of Art led her to Dick Williams and the innovative and contemporary Odyssey Studio. The artist pursued the etching and the collagraph, later the serigraph, and in 1990 began mono printing. Her mastery of the art of print making is described as remarkable.Yet painting remains Dergara’s first love, and a vibrant testament to her profound talent. Santiago Leon of ARTEFINO speaks for many admirers that Ann’s work is typical of an artist assured of her own talent; it is unconstrained, blending great skill and maturity with the free spirit of a child. Dergara is intent on achieving the original, the unique, the different - but only as it celebrates whatis positive and beautiful. Her brilliant use of color expresses her passionate respect for the harmony of nature - a recurring theme in a body of work that brings her growing, international acclaim.

Fenetre Ouverte Sur La Seine - Jean-Claude Picot Hand Embellished Serigraph, 22/100 Signed by the artist - Mounted and Framed 56x67cmSince 1956, Jean Claude Picot has been working exclusively as a professional artist. He is greatly influenced by the works of the Fauvist masters like Vlaminck, Derain, and Matisse, whose exuberant canvases drew great attention in the first decade of the 20th century for their revolutionary use of color, texture, and abstract form. These artists have inspired Picot for decades and you can find many similar characteristics in his work. Picot has developed a unique style that recalls a Post-Impressionist application of color, combined with the expressive qualities of form and line. His compositions are often calming, possessing his personal joie de vivre. He frequently captures the animation, romance, and essence of the landscape as his favored subject, although he also paints still lifes, cityscapes, markets, and festival scenes. All of his work is imbued with the same bright and cheerful character and is instantly identifiable. Since 1947 he has exhibited in over fifty one-person shows throughout the world including exhibitions in the United States, Belgium, Norway and Australia.Picot lives part of the year in the south of France and often draws on the Cote d’Azur – its visitors, beaches, and boat-filled harbors. His work abounds with natural beauty and features breathtaking panoramic views charged with the unique light of the Mediterranean. Picot works in a Post-Impressionist manner, reducing flowers, trees, houses, and figures to their essential forms. In the reviews of Picot’s most recent solo shows in Paris, Bordeaux and Oslo, the critics cited the affinities between the masters of Impressionism and early 20th Century Fauvism with Picot’s work.Today in the 21st Century, Picot continues the tradition of important French landscape painters. Picot actively works in many media – oil, acrylic, watercolor, etching, ceramic, and most recently, serigraphy and embellished serigraphy – which beautifully capture his vibrant color and painterly technique. His work is a favorite of collectors internationally and is represented in prestigious collections worldwide.
Garden Flowers II - Stephan Whittle Original Etching Original Etching, signed and certified. - Mounted and Framed 37x46cmStephan Whittle, 1953 – 2000. Born in England, Whittle studied etching at Chelsea School of Art and Brighton College of Art.He worked as an artist, teacher and graphic designer in Switzerland and England, exhibiting in galleries in Great Britain..“The transcendent, spiritual dimension of ‘vision’ allows me to interpret what I see on a feeling level. Many of my pieces begin as simple rhythmic shapes, moving to achieve a kind of fluid harmony. Then I begin to bend the natural world around this design.Color plays a crucial part, as if adding music to a world that was so far silent. Altogether I seek to create both a feast for the senses and an image that will resonate somewhere deep within the soul.” His view of nature as a place of harmony and balance was expressed in his early etchings. His sense of color and rhythmic, flowing composition creates remarkable miniature worlds on copper plates. Working with publishers such as London Contemporary Art and CCA Galleries, his florals and landscape scenes gained popularity in Japan, Australia and North America. He exhibited at art shows in Tokyo, New York, Paris and Frankfurt. Whittle moved to America with his wife and two children. His used brighter colors and larger pieces, and developed a method of embossing designs around the border of the etched images. He etched a series depicting vineyards and wine related themes.
