Levon West (American 1900-1968) Noon Etching on laid paper, signed titled and numbered 83/100 in pencil 22.5cm x 27cm Note: West gained international recognition as an artist upon the publication of his etching "The Spirit of St. Louis" as CHarles Lindbergh arrived in Paris. His etchings were soon in great demand. He was made Guest Artist by the State of Colorado in 1932 and completed a series of etchings (including "Noon") on western ranch life

William Strang RA (Scottish 1859-1921) Portrait of Robert Louise Stevenson (1850-1894, Novelist, poet and essayist) Etching with monogram 15cm x 11cm Note: Auction records reveal the two most desirable etchings by Strang are those of Rudyard Kipling and Robert Louise Stevenson. At Bonhams, London in 2005 examples achieved prices of £2000 and £800 respectively. This etching of R. L. Stevenson was later published as the frontispiece of 'Vailima Letters' the book detailing the correspondence between Stevenson and Sir Sidney Colvin (1845-1927) Slade Professor of Fine Arts at Cambridge and keeper of Prints at the British Museum, he was also a friend of Stevenson, whose works and letters he edited.
