Equestrian Interest Antique Framed Print Of An Etching 'Waiting For The Ferryboat' Large print engraved by Willam Giller after an original painting by J F Herring. Depicts several horses and other cattle waiting on the banks of a river for the ferryboat to arrive. Black sepia and grey tones with internal gilt wood mount, framed under glass. Approx dimensions, 22 x 34 inches.
Broadside.- Cochin (Nicolas) The Map of the Kingdom of Heaven, or 'La carte du royaume des cieux, avec le chemin pour y aller', after Stefano della Bella (1610-1664), etching and engraving, published by Nicolas Jean Baptiste de Poilly, [circa 1650, but a later impression from circa 1740], on laid paper with watermark of large rosary encircling a Maltese cross, two plates printed on two sheets, total platemark (incl. lettered title above) approximately 875 x 570 mm. (34 1/2 x 22 1/2 in), total sheet 1150 x 745 mm. (45 1/4 x 29 3/8 in), unframed. Literature: De Vesme/Massar 1056 ⁂ Religious broadside after a programme devised by Hierosme Chastelain presenting the division between Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell. The walled celestial city of Jerusalem, presided over by the Holy Trinity from a mountain summit, is featured at the top; the souls of Purgatory are shown below outside the gates of Heaven; and finally, the fiery rivers of hell are at the bottom presided over by Lucifer.
London.- Hollar (Wenceslaus) The Prospect of London and Westminster, taken from Lambeth..., etching, later state with rebuilt St.Paul's Cathedral, on three sheets only (of 4, lacking left hand sheet), laid paper with armorial watermark containing fleur-de-lis above the initials 'CR', sheet c. 345 x 1180 mm. (13 1/2 x 46 1/2 in), linen-backed, folding onto central sheet mounted on card, foxing and light soiling, vertical creases from previous additional folds, [circa 1647, but a later impression after 1697]. •Matthew Hilton (b. 1948) - collection of fourteen limited edition black and white etchings, 'First', abstract figurative subject, signed and inscribed, dated '91 (1991), numbered 2/25, limited edition black and white etching, 7" x 8" (pl); together with fifteen further companions entitled 'Second', 'Third', 'Fourth', 'Fifth', 'Sixth', 'Seventh' etc, the final print entitled 'Last', all numbered and accompanied with a booklet entitled 'Matthew Hilton, Flagships for New Reaches - A Baltic Sea Journey an exhibition held at The Ferens Art Gallery, Hull between 13th June and 19th July 1992 (14) *The artist was born in London and attended Bournemouth College of Art, he has had solo exhibitions throughout the world, biographical details on his career can be found in the back of the catalogue
