James Abbott McNeil Whistler (American 1834-1903) Annie Seated, titled and signed in the plate, 1858, etching, 13 x 9.5 cm (PL)Provenance: private collection. Information verso claims provenance to Seymour Haden (1818-1910) Whistler's brother-in-law and father of Annie.In 1858 Whistler stayed with his sister Deborah and her husband Seymour Haden in London, following an injury. During this time Whistler began experimenting with etching and featured his niece Annie in some of his compositions. Annie was aged around 9/10 years old at the time of the etching.

Churchill family interest, Sarah Churchill (British, 1914-1982) Profile of the artist's father, Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965), etching, signed in pencil lower right, probably a proof in addition to the limited edition of three hundred, framed, 13 7/8 x 10 1/2in. (35.2 x 26.7cm.), together with a framed certificate awarded to Randolph Churchill MBE (1911-1968), the only son of Sir Winston and Lady Churchill, conferring upon him a Fellowship of the Incorporated Society of Auctioneers and Landed Property Agents, dated 7th May 1940. Also an Ezra Brooks novelty ceramic bourbon whiskey bottle in the form of Churchill delivering a speech inscribed "The Iron Curtain Speech March 5 1946 Fulton, Mo", marked beneath "First edition of the Winston Churchill commemorative bottle. As presented to the honored guests at the dedication of the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library in the United States May 7, 1969". Also the steel company seal of Randolph Churchill's company, Hurst Investments Limited. * Sarah Churchill was an actress and dancer, the third child of Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965) and Clementine Ogilvy Hozier, Lady Churchill (1885-1977). **Creases in the paper commensurate with a proof etching, otherwise good.

A short nick bottom centre. A repaired tear above the bowl, near the lettering. A little tear in the paper in the top right quadrant and another short nick along the top edge. Little staining below the window. Slightly frayed corners. Little skinning to the paper in the lower left quadrant and near the lettering above the repaired tear. Some light creasing near the top margin. No visible watermark.
Follower of John Sell Cotman Château de Falaise, Normandy, France watercolour on paper 24 x 35cm Château de Falaise, the ancestral seat of the Dukes of Normandy, was the birthplace of William the Conqueror in approximately 1028 - in an earlier building on the same site. The present composition appears to be closely based on the etching Castle of Falaise (North View) of this subject by Cotman, which was published as pl. 90 in Architectural Antiquities of Normandy in 1821.

He followed in his father’s footsteps and painted watercolours of local views, but he also turned to etching as a result of his enthusiasm for Piranesi’s Roman Antiquities. In 1804, he left for Chester where he became a drawing master and published several series of etchings of ancient castles, abbeys and other subjects in 1810-11 and 1815. A sketchbook from 1821 documents his travels in North Wales, Durham, Yorkshire, Warwickshire and Derbyshire. Around 1821, he settled in Masham, near Richmond where he later published his Yorkshire Abbeys. In 1848, his collected works were published as Wanderings and Pencillings amongst the Ruins of Olden Times.Framed George Cuitt - 48.5 x 43cm; 48.5 x 42.5cm
Scarce 1822 Pattern George IV/William IV Infantry Officer's Sword32 1/4 inch, single edged, quill point, pipe back blade. Â Blade with faint laurel spray cypher and crown etching. Â One side with faint London maker's details. Â Brass, Gothic pattern guard with crowned cypher GRIV/WRIV cartouche. Â Folding rear section of guard. Â Brass, stylised floral decorated pommel and backstrap. Â Shagreen covered grip with twist wire binding. Â Contained in its steel scabbard with two loose hanging rings.
Frederick Arthur Farrell (British, 1882 - 1935) Ponte Vecchio, Florence Pencil signed artist's proof original drypoint etching, with blind stamp, 30.5cm x 48.5cm. This artist served as Glasgow's official war artist during World War I. Glasgow was the only British city to appoint an artist to such a position.
