Sir David Young Cameron RA, Scottish 1865-1945 - Ben Vair; oil on canvas, signed lower left 'D Y Cameron', titled to artist's label affixed to the stretcher 'Ben Vair', 39.5 x 59.8 cm Note: Cameron was one of the most celebrated Scottish artists of the early 20th century, known particularly for his evocative depictions of the Scottish highlands, that demonstrate the influence of both the atmosphere of Whistler and the rustic simplicity of the Glasgow Boys. This work was most likely made after 1907, when Cameron had begun to focus more fully on landscape painting rather than etching.
