NB: This plate comes from a suite of twenty three aquatints worked over a photo-gravure base by Rouault in 1929 but unpublished until 1955 when issued in an edition of 210. See illustration
Barclay, John Rankine (R A) (1884-1962)-original pen and ink golf etching titled "Sand" signed and dated- depicting player and his caddie playing out of sand dune -printed and dated 1922 and signed in pencil to the border-etching measures 8" x 10"-mf & g overall 13.5 x 15.5". Note Biography: Born Edinburgh, he studied at the Edinburgh College of Art and he was awarded Carnegie travelling Scholarship and The Guthrie ward. He worked in Edinburgh before moving to St Ives in the late 1920s He frequently painted and etched depicting figures in a landscape or a town setting in an individual and often experimental style-he exhibited at Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy and Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours

A presentation folder containing a certificate making Adolf Hitler an honorary citizen of the town of Cronberg in Taunus, dated May 1933, signed by the magistrate and town councillors, and with an etching of a stylised wheat sheaf, the cover coated with coarse fabric and embellished with a swastika, the wax town seal attached by a cord. GC (covers worn, the wax seal damaged). Lots 633 - 641 were aquired by the Vendor's Grandfather, André Le Gonidec. He served with the Free French in the 2nd Armoured Division under General Leclerc. The items were taken from a train used by Hermann Goering which was derailed by the 2nd Armoured Division near Bertchesgarten in the Winter of 1944-45

Frank Brangwyn (1867-1956), "Caravans", signed in pencil in the margin, produced in 1923, zinc etching, plate size 28 x 94cm.; 11 x 37in. * Only 5-9 impressions were taken before the plate was reduced in size. Examples can be found in the Brangwyn-Belleroche Museum in Orange, Belgium and the William Morris Museum in Walthamstow.
