Neusilberkorn, V-Kimme. Originale Brünierung bräunlich patiniert, feinste Närbchen. Die Laufbrücke zweizeilig mit Herstellerdaten "MASS.ARMS CO./CHICOPEE FALLS", die Schlossplatte gemarkt "WESSON'S & LEVITT'S PATENT". Auf der Trommeltransportscheibe "WESSONS' PATENT AUG 28, 1849", darüber die Seriennummer. Auf der Rückseite der Trommel die Inschrift "LEAVITT’S PATENT APRIL 29, 1837". Die Stirnseite der Trommelachse ebenso wie der Laufhaken mit der Nummer "713" gestempelt, auf der Trommelachse noch Montagenummer "4". Die Rankenätzung auf der Trommel abgenutzt, Rahmen und Hahn mit Rankengravur. Griffrücken und Abzugsbügel aus Messing mit Resten der Versilberung. Nussholzgriffschalen mit Dellen und Kratzern, kleine Fehlstelle. Mechanisch in Ordnung. Länge ca. 27 cm.Einer von nur 1.000, da die Produktion wegen eines Patentstreits mit Colt eingestellt werden musste. Single action. Six shots. Manufacturing date 1851. Smoky pewter-gray patina, with some surface corrosion. German silver pin front sight, V-notch rear sight on the hinged top strap. The barrel is locked by a swinging latch to the cylinder arbor pin. The rear of the back action side lock marked "WESSON'S & LEAVITT’S PATENT", the top strap "MASS ARMS CO / CHICOPEE FALLS". The cylinder rotating plate marked "WESSONS' PATENT AUG 28, 1849", the front of the recoil shield marked with serial number 782. To the rear of the cylinder inscribed "LEAVITT’S PATENT APRIL 29, 1837". Assembly number "4" on the cylinder arbor pin, the locking stud on the barrel and the front of the arbor pin marked "713". Case hardened frame, brass back strap and trigger guard with remains of silver-plating. Lock plate and hammer with crisp engraving in loose floral motifs, the acid etching on the cylinder barely visible. Smooth walnut grips in good condition, few dings, a small chip. Mechanically sound. Warner. Initial production started at the site of the Ames Manufacturing Company, since James Ames also was amongst the founders and served as Chairman of the board of directors. Based on a design by Edwin Wesson and Thomas Warner, using the patents of Wesson and Leavitt, the built a .40 calibre "Dragoon" revolver and the light Belt model. Production ended after only one year in 1851, when Mass Arms lost a patent infringement law suit filed by Colt against their cylinder revolving mechanism when the hammer was cocked. Only about 800 Dragoons and ~ 1,000 Belt revolvers were ever built.

Anatomy.- Celsius (Magnus Nicolaus, Swedish mathematician and scientist active at Uppsala University, 1621-1679) Anatomical Study of Conjoined Twins, single unrecorded plate from early medical textbook, etching with heavy plate tone on laid paper without watermark, platemark 128 x 86 mm (5 x 3 1/4 in), sheet 140 x 105 mm (5 1/2 x 4 1/4 in), printing poorly in the lower section with small areas of abrasion and surface rubbing, irregularly trimmed, careful repairs to folds, unframed, [circa 1640-1660]⁂ Very scarce example of the printed work of the largely unrecorded Swedish polymath Magnus Nicolaus Celsius. The present plate corresponds directly with plates produced by Celsius for his De cerebro humano, printed in 1646 [a handful of copies are known, with WorldCat recording only one held in the National Library of Sweden]. Bill Jordan founded the Jordan Gallery in the 1970s. The short-lived venture was a vibrant hub of modern art in the 70s and 80s, situated in Camden Lock, London. The Gallery exhibited many artists of the period, including David Hockney, Henry Moore, Patrick Hughes, Allen Jones, Ceri Richards, and Joe Tilson.
