Parade Sword with scabbard and knot M1899 Blade: Forged stainless steel, hand-polished. Each side a blood-groove. Traditional acid etching on both sides, ornaments and Swiss cross, solid brass guard, consisting of top nut, grip back, ring and guard, manually engraved polished, with Swiss cross, nickel plated finish, strong and solid ABS handle with sharkskin imitation surface, 3 double-twisted brass wires in golden color wrapped around the handle grooves, handmade scabbard made of a steel tube, manually polished, fitted with carrying ring made of stainless steel, interior with 2 slats for protection of the blade, knot in red and white ribbon with gold wire tassel. Blade size 79 cm. Germany workshop, Carl Eickhorn marked with mark 1921-1933. I-II
Norman Ackroyd (British, b.1938), Sea & Sky I, signed, dated, titled and inscribed in pencil 'Norman Ackroyd 1979, Sea & Sky I, for Henry with love, June 1979' (in lower margin), etching, 61 x 65.5cm. Provenance: The inscription to Henry refers to the British sculptor Henry Clyne to whom Ackroyd gifted this etching. The current vendor purchased the work directly from the Clyne family. MacBeth-Raeburn, and a map of Wessex, printed by Osgood, McIlvaine & Co., 45 Albemarle Street, London 1895, hand inscribed in ink on end papers "To Miss Jean Rosamond Ffooks on her marriage from Mr and Mrs Thomas Hardy, October 1921" Provenance: The vendor's great-aunt's father, E.A. Ffooks was a prominent member of Dorchester Society and was in charge of the Dorset County Council at its' inception, with a staff of six. This is how they came to know the Hardy family.

* Julius Komjati [Hungarian, 1894-1958]- A woodman gathering faggots:- etching, signed in ink in the full margin, also signed and dated 1930 in the etching top right on laid paper 40 x 29cm * Biography. Komjati lived most of his life in his native Hungary. However the ten year period he spent in London, 1928-1938, had a profound impact on the course of British etching. He studied under Malcolm Osborne at South Kensington and during his stay in England produced 74 works published by H.C. Dickens, each in editions of 75. He was elected a member of the Royal Engravers and the Society of Painters & Etchers.
