Guillaume Azoulay (California / Israel, b. 1949) Etching. Pencil Numbered (17/300) and titled lower left. Signed lower right. Image Size: 11.5 x 8.5 in. Unframed. Included in the artist's achievements are the acceptance of seven of his works in the permanent collection of the Musee Du Louvre (Cabinet Des Dessins). His work is in the private collections of President Ronald Reagan, His Majesty King Hassan II of Morocco, President Francois Mitterand of France and the late President Sadat of Egypt. Several works by Azoulay are in the Nelson Rockefeller Collection.
James Craig Nicoll (New York, California, Connecticut, 1846 - 1918) Etching depicting a coastal seascape with a vessel near the horizon. Pencil Signed lower right. Sight Size: 6.5 x 10.25 in. Johnny Gotthard Friedlaender (1912 - 1992) Large colored etching composition. Signed lower right. Numbered (45/95) lower left. Johnny Friedlaender was a leading 20th century artist, whose works have been exhibited in Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy, Japan and the United States. He has been influential upon other notable artists, who were students in his Paris gallery. His preferred medium of aquatint etching is a technically difficult artistic process, of which Friedlaender has been a pioneer. Sight Size: 21 x 16.5 in. Overall Size: 34.25 x 28.5 in. Lucioni won many honors during his distinguished career. He took first prize in 1939 at the Carnegie International Exhibition for a portrait of Ethel Waters. His 1941 portrait of John La Farge was voted best painting by visitors to the Corcoran Biennial in Washington, D.C. Lucioni was a member of the Society of American Etchers (Brooklyn), and the Allied Art Association.
Ronau Woiceske (NY, Illinois, 1887 - 1953) Etching of a winding country road with a farmhouse in the background. Signed lower right. Titled lower left under matting. Sight size: 10 x 11.5 in. Overall Size: in. He studied under Birge Harrison and John Carlson and concentrated in his later years on etchings. Many of his snow scenes attracted at the time national attention. His etchings and paintings were exhibited in many American cities and abroad. He was a member of the Philadelphia Print Club and the National Association of Etchers.
Albert Besnard (France, 1849 - 1934) Etching of a woman. Pencil signed in lower margin. Image size: 5 x 5 inches. In 1913, Besnard was appointed to be the director of Villa Medici in Rome; in 1922, he became the director of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. In 1924, he became the first painter since 1760 to be elected as a member of the Acad?mie Fran?aise, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of the French intellectual world.
