1827 pattern Rifle Officers sword and scabbard, retailed by Moss Brothers with 20-21 King Street, Covent Garden address etched to the ricasso, George V monogram and other scrollwork etching to the blade, the guard bears a rifle horn badge, wire bound fishskin grip tied with a leather knot, together with a leather sword cover initialled J.D.Y. Buyer must be over the age of 18. Age verification ID will be required.

(Trimmed close to plate edge, remnants of paper hinges from previous mounting on v°). NOTE: First state. Very rare allegorical representation of Death shooting its arrows at an armed crowd of young and old, poor and rich, men and women emerging from a gate. Father Time lashes out with his scythe at instruments of science such as globe and compass, but also at objects related to the arts. Fame is chased away by Death. In the background, Death shoots its arrows at elephants and other animals. Below the scene is a Latin verse about this battle of Death by I. Semmius. No watermark visible. (c. 1717-19?). Etching. 71 x 93 mm. NOTE: Representation of the thumb of the statue of the Duke of Alva, erected by himself in the courtyard of the citadel in Antwerp, 1571, destructed in 1576. Attached is a verse of 8 lines in Dutch from Vondel. W. 18th and 19th c. annotations in ms in upper and lower blank margin, stamped 'No 121.' unfortunately in image. Without the letterpress text leaflet, present in the Rijksmuseum. - Very rare, not in FM (cf. FM 569).

Magnificent dueling rapier, with engraved hilt and TR monogram, Spain 19th century. Incurved triangular section blade decorated with etched. Very high quality hilt decorated with etching and TR monogram. Decorated pommel, wooden handle wrapped with twisted wire. Leather scabbard with brass fittings. A wonderful collector's item. Length 108 cm.
Rare Double-barrel percussion shotgun, Eusebio Zuloaga, royal gunsmith, Spain, mid-19th century. The barrels of this gun and all metal parts are richly decorated with etching in the form of floral decoration and hunting scenes. The inscription on the barrels in Gothic script "Zuloaga, Arcabucero de S.M." The butt of the gun is decorated with carved floral decoration. Eusebio Zuloaga was one of the greatest advocates of the modern decorative damascene technique, thanks to preparation of the surface for inlay by means of fine undercut hammering. He achieved international fame. He learned the arms trade in the family, first of all with his uncle Ram—n in Placencia de las Armas, and later with his father, in Madrid. He did time as an apprentice at the workshop of Jean Lepage in Paris and again in Saint-etienne (1830-32). In 1834 he is named Major Lieutenant Armorer by the Royal Armory, and in 1844, Royal Arquebusier, by Queen Isabel II. Having opened his workshop in Madrid in 1842, in 1848 he opened another in Eibar. A wonderful collectible shotgun in good condition. Length 123 cm..
