Der in Polen geborene Hirzel wuchs in Berlin auf. Nachdem er Bekanntschaft mit den Berliner Künstlern Ludwig Meidner und Willy Jaeckel gemacht hatte, studierte Hirzel ab 1925 Kunst, u.a. unter Emil Orlik. Die Berlinische Galerie ist im Besitz eines Werkes des Künstlers. Set of two original prints. Each etching on paper. Each signed and dated. Hirzel was born in Poland and grew up in Berlin. The Berlinische Galerie owns a work by the artist.
