(London), Hannah Humphrey, 10 June 1806. Handcol. etched caricatural print, 24 x 34 cm. Framed. Satirical print about beer; quassia was a South American plant that was promoted as a superior and tax-free substance for brewing beer instead of hops, and the etching shows major brewers in a celebratory procession. Very good condition; not inspected outside frame.

A large-headed Napoleon stands with feet apart and hands on hips, a globe wedged in his mouth with Great Britain facing out towards the bespectacled figure of John Bull, who says 'I'll tell you what, Mr Boneypartee, when you come to a little spot I have in my eye, it will stick in your throat and choak you!' (2) John Bull shewing the Corsican Monkey! Ibid., Ackermanns, 3 Sept. 1803. Handcol. etching by Isaac Cruikshank after Woodward, 25 x 32 cm. A crowd gathers around Bull as he presents Napoleon, depicted here as a small monkey riding on the back of bear. Added: Gillray, J. Ornate "Dague De Vertue", "Dague de "Pute", Women's self-defense dagger, France, mid-19th C. Very high quality and richly decorated dagger. The straight steel blade is decorated with etching and gilding. The figured guard and pommel are made of bronze and gilded. The spiral-shaped handle is made of steel, coated with silver and blue. The steel scabbard is covered with high-quality etched and gilded decor. PatternsIt is believed that such daggers were worn by prostitutes for self-defense. In fact, they were also used by middle-class and high-status women. . The very high quality of this dagger indicates that it was used by a woman of high position and income. A beautiful collectible dagger with a romantic history. Length 20 cm.
A Shashka with scabbard and belt, silver, niello, engraving, Russia mid 20th century. A slightly curved steel blade with two fullers on each side. The left side of the blade is decorated with etching with a monogram under the Russian Imperial Crown. The handle is made of bone decorated with carvings, the silver fittings of the handle are decorated with engraving and niello. The scabbard is made of wood, covered with black leather, the silver fittings of the scabbard are decorated with engraving, niello and a bone insert with inlay. Leather belt with silver fittings decorated with engraving and niello. An interesting item for collecting and interior decoration. Length 96 cm.
An 1803 pattern British Infantry Flank Officer's sword, the 77cm curved blade etched with stands of arms, having a pierced brass oval hilt with GR cypher, ribbed leather grip and lions head pommel, housed in a brass mounted leather scabbard, 91cm.Scabbard very dry, tip has been off and poorly repaired.Blade with areas of rust, rounded at tip, etching worn.Hilt solid.Grip is bare wood – no wire of fishskin.
