EARLY 19TH CENTURY ETCHING OF THE SHIP 'GREAT HARRY' hand-coloured aquatint etched by Robert Cruikshank and engraved by R. G. Reeve, after drawings by Hans Holbien in the possession of The Princess Victoria, titled 'The Great Harry, the first Ship of War that carried Guns built at HIS MAJESTIES Dock Yard at Woolwich in the reign of King Henry VIII, 1514', framed and under glass, 52cm high, 70 cm long
Leslie Moffatt Ward (1888-1978): Mounted signed etching; Eastington Farm, signed and titled in pencil to margin (36 x 11.5 cm). Leslie Moffatt Ward was a painter, and etcher of landscapes and coastal scenes who studied at Bournemouth arts school. He is well known for his local scenes around Poole and the Purbeck's, and these works are from the collection remaining at his studio at the time of his death.
A Bavarian infantry officer’s sword (1825-48), slightly curved, pipe backed blade 32”, with traces of etching, ornamental brass hilt, turn down quillon, inverted “sunburst” langets, guard incorporating small scroll, forward angled lion’s head pommel, no backstrap, darkwood grip fluted on the inner side and diced on the outer, which incorporates lozenge panel embossed with the cypher of Ludwig I (1825-48), in its steel scabbard with brass mounts and 2 rings. A mid 18th century hunting sword, slender tapering fullered blade 22”, with narrow back fuller to central section and faint traces of etching, brass crossguard with spiral fluted centre section (finials bent), finely spiral fluted ivory grip (cracked along the back edge) rounded pommel cap embossed with lion’s head and shell, stud button tip.
