A Victorian 1827 Pattern Naval Sword, the 77cm single edge fullered steel blade bearing traces of etching, the brass hilt with hinged guard, cast with a crowned fouled anchor and with lion head pommel, with wire bound fishskin grip, lacks scabbard; a Pair of German Fencing Foils, each with blade stamped SOLINGEN, the brass hilt with open double kidney shape guard, ribbed leather grip and ovoid pommel; a Paul Leon Fencing Sabre, with a later blade and aluminium bowl hilt (4). 1 - Black patching to blade, etching very faint. Some fishskin missing from grip with some loose wires, lacks scabbard. 2 - Grey patching to blades, otherwise good. 3 - Deep rust pitting to blade. Rust pitting to wire binding of grip and pommel
A Late George III Light Cavalry Trooper's Sabre, in the style of a 1796 Pattern, with 83 cm, broad, slightly curved and fullered steel blade, retaining traces of gilt-highlighted etching including trophies of war, Royal Coat-of-Arms and possible date, ''178?'', the gilt brass stirrup hilt with ribbed marine ivory grip. Blade with significant pitting and a number of small nicks to edge. Gilding to hilt worn in places. Grip with small area of loss, numerous small natural cracks and two larger cracks.
A German Third Reich Fire Department Officer's Dagger/Sidearm, the 41cm double edge steel blade faintly etched with martial trophies within foliate strapwork, the nickel plated hilt with flat trefoil quillons to the crossguard centred by a helmet and axe, wire bound leather grip and acanthus capped ball pommel, the brown leather scabbard with nickel plated mounts and twin suspender rings, 54.5cm. Blade is very rust pitted making the etching difficult to make out.The nickel plating of the hilt and scabbard is very worn. The scabbard had a crease to the leather just below the locket.
A Georgian Five Ball Spadroon Hilt Sword, the 68cm single edge curved steel blade with a broad and narrow fuller, faintly etched with a crown, diapering, martial trophies and thistles to each side, the gilt brass hilt with five ball guard and knuckle bow, fluted and reeded square section ivory grip set with a band centred by an elliptical panel engraved MLRVA, with cushion shape pommel, 81cm, lacks scabbard. Black patching to most of the blade, with faint etching and nicks to the edge. Slight wear to the gilt on the hilt. Lacks scabbard.
A Victorian 1827 Pattern Rifle Regiment Officer's Sword, the 82cm single edge fullered steel blade etched with a strung bugle and foliate tendrils, with Proof poincon and maker's name Forbes, Camden Town, the steel gothic hilt pierced and engraved with a strung bugle, with partially chequered back strap, wire bound fishskin grip and steel scabbard; a Very Similar Sword, the blade faintly etched with crowned VR cypher, the hilt with smooth back strap, and with associated steel scabbard (2). Both have black patching and rust pitting to the blades, the etching is faint. The latter sword has dents to the scabbard which does not quite fit.
A 19th Century Argentinian Malacca Sword Stick, the 60cm single edge fullered steel blade etched with foliage, dated 1887, the ricasso with maker's mark for J Motta, Buenos-Aires, with foliate engraved brass collar, ebony handle and brass ferrule, 81cm. Etching to blade is quite faint, some pitting. Bruising to handle and dent to ferrule tip.
A George V 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword, the 82cm fullered steel blade etched with crowned GVR cypher and foliate tendrils, with Proved poincon, by Pipe & McGill, Bedford, the plated steel hilt pierced and engraved with crowned GVR cypher, with wire bound fishskin grip and leather service scabbard. Etching worn. Leather scabbard is a little shabby
A Victorian 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword, the 82.5cm single edge fullered steel blade etched with crowned VR cypher and foliate tendrils, with Proof poincon and maker's name W S Carver, King Street, St. James's, the steel hilt pierced and engraved with crowned VR cypher, with partially wire bound fishskin grip and steel scabbard; a Victorian 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword, the 82cm epee blade etched with crowned VR cypher, the nickel plated steel hilt pierced with crowned VR cypher, partially wire bound fishskin grip and with steel scabbard (2). 1 - Black patching to blade. Deep pitting to hilt. Loss of wire binding a fishskin. Black patching and pitting to scabbard. 2 - Etching to blade is quite crisp. Loss of wire binding a fishskin to grip. Scabbard has deep pitting
Leonard Russell Squirrell (1893-1971) chalk and charcoal - Moonlit scene, inscribed with dedication to Charles Baskett, ‘To my old friend & master Mr C. E. Baskett, Dec. 1921’, in glazed gilt frame, 33cm x 43cm N.B. Charles Baskett was etching Master at Ipswich School of Art and taught Squirrell. Leonard Squirrell later took over the etching class in 1930
