Circa 4th-2nd century B.C. With hair divided in vertical arrangements, bound on the back by a fillet, delicate rendering of mouth, nose and eyes; mounted on a custom-made display stand. Cf. Mavrogonatou, A., Terracotta figurines as grave offerings in Veoria: the funerary dimension of Aphrodite and Eros in female and child burials of the Hellenic rock-cut chamber tombs, Thessaloniki, 2018, fig.47, for a similar head on a statuette in terracotta of Aphrodite. 38 grams total, 64 mm including stand (2 1/2 in.).Ex P. A., Hertfordshire, UK, specialist collection of Greek art, 1980-1990s.It seems that half-draped women in sculpture, whatever the pose, are quite rare before the late Hellenistic period; however, they appear as early as the 4th century B.C., on a small scale and in terracotta. North Macedonian terracotta figurines of Aphrodite or mortal girls replicate sculptural trends of the 2nd century B.C. In particular, the the classical sculptural tradition was revived during the latter half of the second century B.C., as evidenced by the figurines.

Circa 1500 A.D. Comprising a single cutting edge, scale tang and bifacial pommel with incised motifs. Cf. Marquardt, K., Eight Centuries of European Knives, Forks and Spoons: an Art Collection, Europe, 1997, pp.28-32, for type. 49 grams, 20.2 cm (8 in.).Acquired 1960s-1990s. Scale-tang knives have wider and flatter tangs onto which the plates comprising the handle are attached with metal rivets.
1450-1550 A.D. Comprising a single-edged blade, rivets for a scale tang; remains of quillon. Cf. Michalak, A., Arma confinii, przemiany pó?no?redniowiecznej broni na rubie?ach ?l?ska, Wielkopolski, Branderburgii i ?u?yc (Arma confinii, transformations of late medieval weapons on the borders of Silesia, Wielkopolska, Brandenburg and Lusatia, in Polish), Zielona Gora, 2019, pl.54, nos.9 and 12, for a similar single-edge dagger. 132 grams, 31.5 cm (12 3/8 in.).Acquired 1960s-1990s.
