Monogrammiert und datiert, verso auf dem Keilrahmen bezeichnet und mit Etikett mit typographischen Werkangaben. - In sehr gutem Zustand. Die Farben frisch, subtil und zart in der Wirkung, von feinmalerischer Qualität. Provenienz: Privatsammlung Berlin, direkt vom Künstler erworben. - Matthias Koeppel ist ein Maler, der sich der wirklichkeitsgetreuen, hyperrealistischen Stilistik auf sehr besondere, ausgefallene Weise seit den 1970er Jahren nähert. 1973 gründete er zusammen mit den anderen Berliner Realisten Manfred Bluth, Johannes Grützke und Karlheinz Ziegler die "Schule der Neuen Prächtigkeit" im "Atelier Grützke". Es war eine bewusste Positionierung gegen die abstrakte Malerei, die sehr präsent in der deutschen Malerei der 1970er und 1980er Jahre war und für eine wirklichkeitsgetreue Darstellung plädierte. Der Realismus, für den Koeppel einstand, kombiniert Ironie und Satire und verwebt sie sehr subtil in stark verklärenden, romantischen Bild- und Stilkomponenten wie dem großflächigen Himmel, der bei ihm stets zwei Drittel des Horizontes und der Bildfläche einnimmt. In den realistisch anmutenden Szenen verbirgt sich bei Koeppel auch stets eine humoristische, fein dosierte, tiefere Ebene. Die Landschafts- und Horizontansichten in Koeppels Werk alternieren mit den Berlin-Szenen und es scheint, dass die Naturdarstellungen einer Auszeit gleichkommen, vermutlich sind die Impressionen nach Reisen entstanden. Monogrammed and dated, indicated on the verso of the stretcher and with a label with typographic details of the work. - In very good condition. The colours fresh, subtle and delicate in effect, of fine painterly quality. - Provenance: Private collection Berlin, acquired directly from the artist. - Matthias Koeppel is a painter who approaches the life-like, hyperrealistic style in a very special, unusual way since the 1970s. The realism that Koeppel stands for, combines irony and satire and intertwines these very subtly in strongly transfiguring, romantic pictorial and stylistic components such as the large-scale sky which in his work always takes up two thirds of the horizon and the picture surface. Koeppel's realistic scenes conceave always a humorous, finely dosed, deeper level. The landscape and horizon views in Koeppel's work alternate with the Berlin scenes and it seems that the depictions of nature are tantamount to time out, presumably the impressions were created after journeys.
