1909 Renault Type AZ 12/16 HP LandauletteReg. no. BF 4907Chassis no. 15067Engine no. t.b.a.Founded in 1899 by the three Renault brothers – Louis, the engineering mind behind the cars, and Marcel and Fernand, who provided the business acumen – the Renault company quickly established a firm foothold in the pioneer world of the early car industry. The company was involved in motorsport from its earliest years; Louis and Marcel actively campaigned their own products until Marcel was killed during the infamously dangerous 1903 Paris-Madrid race. Louis never raced again, but Renault cars continued in motorsport, and in 1906 Ferenc Szisz won the very first Grand Prix driving a 90CV model. At this time Renault made a car for every taste; from the hugely powerful racing cars on one end of the scale, to small capacity voiturettes on the other.The 12CV AZ model was launched in 1909. Fitting somewhere in the middle of Renault’s large range, it had a 2.4 litre fixed head side valve engine. This engine used magneto ignition and thermo-syphon cooling, as did most other cars of the era; unusually, however, the radiator was behind the engine, and covered by the ‘coal scuttle’ bonnet that was to be a distinctive feature on Renaults for another twenty years. Shaft drive was utilised, while the conventional ladder chassis rode on semi-elliptic leaf springs at the front, with three-quarter elliptic springs at the back. Braking was on the rear wheels, controlled by a hand-operated lever. The 12CV proved a successful model, and Renault went from strength to strength, increasing its overall yearly production to 5,100 by 1910.This 1909 example is an original UK-market car, supplied new by ‘Renault Freres Ltd for Great Britain and the Colonies’. The landaulette body was built upon the chassis by Lucas of London. In true landaulette fashion, the somewhat austere chauffeur’s area – the front seat – stands in sharp contrast to the sumptuous luxury of the rear cabin. At least the chauffeur in this instance is blessed with a wooden roof for some weather protection, while the passengers in the rear can either be contained in weatherproof comfort, or, if the weather is fine, the soft top can be lowered, the windows likewise, and they can enjoy the sun and scenery while being driven gently along.The identity of this car’s first owner is unknown, but it was first registered as KN18 in Kent. Later it was in the ownership of Mrs D Green of Trowbridge in Wiltshire, but other than that the car’s early history is not known. At some point it crossed the Atlantic to the Unites States, whence it was repatriated in 1990. Later, it was purchased from Bob Bentley of Classic Automobiles Ltd by renowned Edwardian motorcar collector Tony Stephens. It is to Mr Stephens that the car owes its attractive colour scheme of green with yellow coach lines. Sold in 2008 to an owner in its ‘home’ county of Kent, the car was purchased by the late owner three years later. In the current ownership, it has been treated to an engine overhaul by specialists Henal Engineering Ltd of East Sussex and has benefitted from the fitting of a Zenith carburettor and electric starter.Estimate: £30,000 – 40,000

A Rare Stainless Steel Automatic Centre Seconds Wristwatch, signed Rolex, Oyster Perpetual, model: Turn-O-Graph, ref: 6202, 1954, lever movement signed and numbered 89866, original black dial with gilt writing and outer minute track, luminous triangular, dot and baton markers, luminous Mercedes hands, screw down crown, 60-minute scale black bezel with a red triangle at 12, screw back stamped inside with maker's mark Rolex, reference number 6202 and dated I 54, Rolex spring loaded riveted oyster bracelet with clasp stamped Rolex and dated I 57 and end links stamped 64, 34mm wide, together with another Rolex stainless steel oyster bracelet with clasp stamped with letters E T and one link numbered 7836 and the end links numbered 358 see illustrations 12.03.21 Case with light surface scratches, bezel with minor scratches, bezel is not rotating at present and is fixed possibly by dirt residue beneath, bezel triangular marker at 12 with luminous dot missing, crown is screwing down correctly. The 1957 bracelet with surface scratches, one bracelet link with the springs missing and needs repairing. The other Rolex bracelet was replaced by the vendor when the 1957 bracelet broke. The other re-placed bracelet has light surface scratches, original dial finish has a good patina and the original gilt writing and outer minute track, dial has staining marks throughout, but has good patina and has nicely aged, luminous hour marks have discoloured and the luminous has slightly shrunk in size which is a feature of an original dial finish, hand setting correctly, movement with minor scratches, movement in going order.

A Rare and Early Speedmaster Pre-Moon Stainless Steel Chronograph Wristwatch, signed Omega, model: Speedmaster, ref: 2915-3, 1958, (calibre 321) lever movement signed and numbered 15996393, column wheel chronograph, movement dust cover, black dial with luminous baton hour markers, three dials for 30-minute, 12-hour registers and seconds, tachymeter base 1000 scale bezel, buttons in the band to operate chronograph, straight lugs, screw back engraved with the Speedmaster above the Seahorse emblem and a double bevelled edge, inside back cover stamped with maker's mark Omega Watch Co and numbered 2915-3, Omega stainless steel bracelet with a deployant clasp numbered 1125 and end links numbered 617, 38mm wide see illustrationsThis reference 2915-3 is one of the most desirable Speedmasters on the market today. In production between 1957 and 1959, reference 2915 is known in three different iterations,1, -2, and -3.This example is the 2915-3 and called by collectors "The transitional early Speedmaster". Omega used the features of the 1 and 2 iterations and combined them together to use the same features, like the early Omega script on the dial, hands and 1000 base tachymeter bezel to produce and launch this reference in 1959. 07.04.21 Case with surface scratches, case sides with minor dents, case back Speedmaster signature and emblem is slightly rubbed, case is dirty next to the Omega logo crown, original black 1000 scale bezel with small scratches and minor dents, Omega plexi glass with surface scratches, Omega bracelet with surface scratches. This Omega bracelet would have been later added in the 1970's. In between bracelet links are dirty, original dial finish with the outer luminous baton hour markers nicely aged with a good patina, dial surface with very minor staining marks visible under an eyeglass. Dial with one very small scratch above the 12 on the 12 hour register sub dial and a very minor dirt mark to the same dial just to the left hand side of the hands central pivot. When tilting the dial towards the natural light the dial goes very slightly brown under an eyeglass, hands have been later replaced, winding smoothly and hand setting correctly, mainspring appears to be slipping when winding the watch several times, movement is clean, chronograph is working correctly, movement in going order.

Teapot with fritting to finial and a Y shaped crack to the body. Teapot stand with a rim chip. Milk jug lacking finial, loss to rim, base good. Ogee bowl in good condition. Saucer with a small rim chip. Small tea bowl with a V shaped piece re stuck to the rim. Larger tea bowl with two cracks. Three coffee cups in good condition. Two coffee cups cracked. One coffee cup with chips.

Kuhn, Luzern, Switzerland, with white metal drum shaped body and fitted suspension ring, all over engine turned decoration, the compass with mother of pearl face, quartered and half black 'Singers' Patent' dial with cardinal points, dial 42mm, the barometer with silvered dial and blued steel hand, 0-9000 / 31-22 scale, 'Compensated', and swivel bezel with point marker, dial 47mm, bevelled glass to both sides, overall 29 by 50mm, 69mm including jump ring, within original fitted double sided burgundy leather case, blue velvet and white silk lined, with push button clasps, 41 by 62 by 73mm.
