Davy sends his apologies for not being able to wait on his correspondent on Monday evening, explaining 'He is engaged out of town'. With integral address leaf (a few small areas of paper loss at the corners and edges). VG. £100-150 Davy's correspondent is Alice Beaufort, the first wife of Sir Francis Beaufort (1774-1857) Irish Hydrographer and Rear Admiral, the creator of the Beaufort Scale for indicating wind force.
