Good Quality Japanese Hon Kozane Ni Mai Do (True-Scale Two Section Cuirass) with a vertical hinge to the left side, red-brown coloured lacquered with blue silk kebiki lacing, gilt copper fittings of good quality secured by silver rivets, incorporating a Mokko mon, top edges and shoulders are covered with decorated doe skin, inside lined with gold lacquered leather, front central gessan is fitted with a fabric pouch (hanagami fukuro) and on the back are two metal fittings for a flag holder (gattari). The armour is preserved in un-cleaned condition. Provenance: by repute this armour was de-accessioned by a Californian Museum following an earthquake. The inside still bears a collection number. Note: the mon was used by 2 Daimyo of the Oda family Kashiwabara in Tanba and Yagimoto in Yamato, and by Daimyo Tatebayashi in Yamato of the Akimoto family. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO OFFER IN HOUSE POST AND PACKING ON THIS LOT
