She was an iron sailing ship designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel she was the largest ship ever built at the time of her 1858 launch, and had the capacity to carry 4000 passengers around the world without refueling. She was 692 feet long with a beam of 82 feet and displaced 32160tonns. She had five steam engines generating a total of 8000HP and was broken up in 1890.

A rare mahogany cistern tube stick barometer with ivory cistern float, Negretti & Zambra, circa 1850, with cavetto moulded caddy pediment and bevel-glazed canted ivory vernier scale signed NEGRETT & ZAMBRA, 11 HATTON GARDEN, London, above vernier adjustment screw and arched mercury tube Fahrenheit and Reaumeur scale thermometer to the caddy moulded trunk, the rounded base with domed sistern cover incorporating ivory cistern float, 96cm high. The firm of Negretti and Zambra traded from 11 Hatton Gardens 1850-9. The invention of the ivory cistern float to aid calibration of the instrument is accredited to Jesse Ramsden (worked 1768-1800).. A rare George III mahogany cistern tube stick barometer, Hannah Adams, London circa 1796, with broken triangular pediment and rectangular silvered vernier scale calibrated in inches and signed Hannah Adams, Fleet Street, LONDON above exposed tube to the caddy moulded trunk, the rounded base with domed cistern cover and level adjustment screw, 96cm high. Hannah Adams inhereted the business on the death of her esteemed husband George Adams in August 1795, she continued the business until the summer of 1796, when the stock in trade of business was sold off to William Jones..
