Yorkshire 1831' [as titled to upper cover] 10 ink and watercolour estate plans on scale of five chains to an inch, each with tenants names, field numbers and areas, each plan approx. 470 x 665 mm, some short marginal tears, contents loose in contemp. half morocco binding, rubbed, folio, together with two large original manuscript estate plans laid onto linen and entitled 'A Plan of Alterations Designed for Campsall the Seat of Bacon Frank Esqr by Thomas White 1771' and 'A Design for the Improvement of Campsal the Seat of Bacon Frank Esq. by T. White 1796', each with inset key to principal buildings, the latter with damp damage to right portion and some fraying to edges, measuring approx. 1120 x 1070 mm and 980 x 1270 mm respec., plus another late 18th century plan on a scale of 1/2 a chain to an inch, with some marginal tears, approx. 1170 x 1280 mm, and a collection of related manuscript maps and documents including three unbound 18th century ink manuscript reports relating to drainage in the area entitled 'The Report of John Smith Engineer for Draining and preserving certain Low Grounds upon the River Went from the Junction of the River Dun to the High Way Leading from Walden Stubbs to Norton in the Parish of Campsall' (7 ff.), 'The Report of John Smith Engineer for Draining and Preserving certain Low Grounds upon the River Went, from its Junction with the River Dun, to Smeeton Mill, in the West Riding of the County of York' (10 ff.), 'An Estimate of Expense of the Intended Drainage upon the River Went from its Junction with the River Dun to the High Way Leading from Walden Stubbs to Norton in the Parish of Campsall upon the Contracted Plan' (3 ff.), plus other related documents including a letter from the Ordnance Survey and manuscript area calculations Campsall Hall was the home of the Frank family for several generations. The hall and grounds were extensively enlarged during the time of Richard Frank (1698-1762) but unfortunately the fine Georgian house no longer stands. (-)

Butler (Arthur G.) Foreign Finches in Captivity, 1st ed., 1894-[1896], sixty fine hand-col. litho. plts. by F.W. Frohawk, t.e.g., remainder untrimmed, orig. gilt dec. cloth in fine and bright condition with only the mearest hint of rubbing to the spine, large 4to Nissen 169. "A pair of birds of each species is shown on the majority of the plates, with their plumage beautifully and carefully delineated and hand-painted. Their size-scale is given at the foot of each royal octavo plate. Frohawk has given the birds natural background settings, against which the figures stand out clearly and sharply. He was adept at getting his portraits to look fresh, clean-limbed and to show up clearly against their backgrounds." A Scratch built live steam half scale model of Gardner & Sons gas fired engine, the heavy cast iron body and flywheel, painted blue exhaust box and water tank painted black, the single cylinder doing a Crankshaft operating the valves through a geared and eccentric drive fitted with a sight feed oil lubricator, gas control taps and mounted on a steel plate base, the base 365mm wide.
A scratch built coal-fired live steam 11/2 inch Scale Allchin traction engine named Royal Chester from a design in the model engineer by W.J. Hughes, the steel boiler lagged in unpainted brass sheet having fully working valve gears and rotating governor, the drive through high and low gears, fitted with forward and reverse lever, full steering gear, water lifter, pressure gauge and valve controls the rear wheel with full winching drum complete with wire and tender rollers complete with bucket but lacking hose and drive belt to governor, overall length 660mm, unpainted
An ivory and silver coloured metal expanding parallel ruler mid 18th century with pivoted scroll pierced x frame two screws lacking 11.5cm long; with an ivory scale ruler calibrated as a protractor and stamped ‘I: Sifson London’ to verso 11.3cm long. (2). The scale ruler is probably by Jonathan Sisson II c.1690-1747 or his son Jeremiah fl. 1736-88 Jonathan Sisson II was chief workman for George Graham and instrument maker to H R H the Prince of Wales.
A George III mahogany and brass octant early 19th century with pivoted brass radius arm framed vernier to the ivory scale signed ‘Springer Bristol’ with sighting mirrors and hinged filters radius of frame 43cm in original ebonised box. The inside of the box is pasted with a facsmile trade label for ‘Joshua Springer Instrument Maker Hadley’s Quadrant Stephen’s Lane Bristol’.
A Regency ebony and box strung figured mahogany mercury wheel barometer with 8in star centre engraved circular silvered register beneath convex mirror arched alcohol thermometer and damp/dry scale with swan neck pediment and spirit level signed ‘Luppi & Solcha Hull Warrented’ to base 98cm high.
A George III style brass mounted mahogany bracket clock circa 1900 the eight day gong striking movement with 7.25in white enamel convex Arabic numeral dial in a break-arch case with carrying handle and single brass lined pad to top above brass lined front angles and arched brass fish-scale side frets on moulded base with brass bracket feet lacking gong 33cm high with handle down.
A scratch built model of a 1920’s Rolls Royce Silver Ghost built to 1/5th scale by Mr E.L. Bryant from polished aluminum panels on channel section chassis with leaf spring linkage. This four door open top tourer has fittings including brass radiator grill head lights door fittings and hinges dashboard with instrument panel and working steering wheel rubber mounted running boards with fitted non-working control levers and battery box. The car has wooden spoke driving wheels with brass hubs and a 12 volt battery driven motor for propulsion. 92cm long in total.
