A BAKSHAISH CARPET approximately 786 x 558cm Please note, in addition to the main condition report for this lot, it should be made clear that this carpet has been cut in a number of places throughout and reduced in size. The origin is possibly Fereghan. Condition Report: Some wear overall comensurate with age and useVarious repairs and replaced sections in areas throughout. Later re-binding to the longest edges, this is uneven and untidy in areas and with some areas of loss and fraying. Some areas of more concentrated wear. Some generally small areas appear likely affected by old moth and has resultant losses (see images) One corner (approx 30-40cm square) appears affected by damp as is fragile and easy to pull away the surface of the wool. Some other areas may be affected in a similar way. Some incisions/ cuts running from the outside edges of various length, and some in other areas, these have been basically stitched together (see images) likely to accomadate the carpet into a room with a fireplace etc. Some other repairs. Please refer to the additional images for a drawing showing the approximate length of cuts/ incisions to the scale of the carpet, please note this is approximate only and not precise. One of the shorter ends has no tassling and only a flat woven section, with some fraying and loss. the opposing end has tassling and has suffered losses. Some losses encroach upon the adjacent outermost border (see images) Various areas of abrash. Some areas where knot heads are visible through the pile. It is noted that at each corner of the carpet, the meeting of the design of the border meets abrubtly (see images) This might suggest that the carpet has been reduced to some degree although the only clear suggestion of this at one corner (see drawing of stitched cuts. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.Condition Report Disclaimer
