A Regency inlaid mahogany mercury wheel barometer A. Rivolta, Chester, early 19th century With open triangular pediment and marquetry rosette over double-line strung baluster outline upright applied with arch-glazed Fahrenheit scale thermometer flanked by conch shell motifs, the 8 inch circular silvered register signed A. Rivolta, Chester to centre within concentric scale annotated in barometric inches with the usual observations to circumference and glazed cast brass bezel, the rounded base with further marquetry rosette, 96.5cm (38ins) high. Provenance: Private collection, Hampshire (ref. B173); purchased from these rooms 7th September 2010 (lot 32) for £220 hammer. A. Rivolta is recorded in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETER MAKERS AND RETAILERS 1660-1900 as working in Chester circa 1815-45.
Y A Queen Anne eight-day longcase clock movement with 10.25 inch dial Donning, Petworth, early 18th century, now in a later burr veneered case with barometer The five finned pillar inside countwheel bell striking movement with anchor escapement regulated by seconds pendulum, the 10.25 inch square brass dial with ringed winding holes, calendar aperture and subsidiary seconds dial to the matted centre within applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with cruciform half-hour markers, Arabic five minutes to outer track and signed Donning, Petworth to lower margin, with pierced blued steel hands and unusual acanthus scroll and fruiting swag cast spandrels applied to angles, now in purpose-made case applied with fine burr veneers (probably amboyna) with crisp ogee and cavetto moulded cornice over plain frieze and glazed hinged dial aperture flanked by columns with brass caps and bases and with rectangular side windows to hood, the trunk with concave throat moulding over rectangular door incorporating swollen centre section to accommodate a circular 7 inch silvered brass barometer scale calibrated for barometric inches, with usual observations and inscribed JOS.H SOMALVICO & CO., Hatton Garden, LONDON to centre within cast brass glazed bezel fitted with a recording pointer, the rear of the door incorporating mercury syphon-tube mechanism enclosed behind a further narrow hinged door, on ebony-line bordered plinth base incorporating cavetto moulded skirt, 211cm (83ins) high. The likely maker of the movement and dial of the current lot, William Donning, is recorded in Loomes, Brian Clockmakers of Britain 1286-1700 as working in Petworth, Sussex in around 1710-20; Loomes also notes that a William Donning was buried in the town in 1705.Joseph Somalvico and Company, the makers of the barometer mechanism now incorporated into the trunk door of the present clock, are recorded in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETER MAKERS AND RETAILERS as working from 2 Hatton Garden, London, 1840-67. A large musket with indistinct lettering to top of barrel, length approx 204cm (af). CONDITION REPORT Condition issues throughout, the stock is only tied to the barrel towards the firing end with numerous breaks, splits and losses, the ram rod has been broken in two and has also suffered losses, the stock is heavily worn with deep gouges, scratches, areas of damage and repair throughout, the metal mounts and barrel have heavy wear and pitting, also sections lost, some corrosion, and a large loss to the butt plate which is loose, generally in need of large scale restoration.

CONDITION REPORTS: Generally good condition, expected wear, approximately 83 grammes all in.
Three boxed Corgi diecast model trucks in 1:50 scale from their 'Heavy Haulage' series, 31007 Diamond T 'Annis', 17602 Scammell Constructor 'Sunter' and 76802 MAN Tractor Unit, Bogie and Bridge Beam Load. Models appear G to VG, with the 31007 model lacking mirrors and the latter model lacking one of the turntables, although all have certificates present. Packaging is generally G/G+. (3)

Models overall appear VG. Also included in this lot is a small quantity of boxed and unboxed continental diecast models by Vitesse, Eligor and others, a boxed Paya tinplate car and a tray containing sixteen packaged American Revolutionary war figures in 1/32 scale. A small quantity of Corgi trucks, some missing parts, together with parts of models and some empty packaging also being included as part of this lot.

Overall models appear G+ although condition of outer packaging ranges from P to G+. This lot also includes a good selection of unboxed Jeep, mostly larger scale models made of plastic, although this lot does contain a resin and a ceramic example, made by Marx, Elvip Toys (Greece) and others. A Hubley Toys 'Amphibious Duck' model is also included as part of this lot. Condition of items vary, some with damage and or missing parts. (39)
