Lot 444

Large-scale MODEL of a London Underground Metropolitan Line A-Stock driving motor car and part of its trailer. Believed to have been produced in the early 1990s as a mock-up of the proposed new livery for the refurbished units and which was subsequently adopted. Thought to have been displayed at 55 Broadway for a time. The leading car measures 31 1/2"/80cm long x 6"/15cm wide. A solid model, material unknown but could be a wood & plastic composite. Mounted on a wooden base. In very good, ex-display condition, a few small blemishes. [1]

Large-scale MODEL of a London Underground Victoria Line 2009-Stock driving motor car. Produced by Bombardier, presumably as a prototype as there are detail differences from the actual cars. A high-quality model with good detail, including a full interior. A low-voltage cable suggests that it may have 12v lights inside but not tested. Measures 32"/81cm long x 5"/13cm wide. Material unknown but appears to be a form of plastic. Mounted on a plinth with a detachable see-through cover. In very good, ex-display condition, some interior fittings are loose. [1]

A Late 19th or Early 20th Century White Mother-of-Pearl Fan, mounted with a leaf of Carrickmacross guipure lace. The design is relatively small scale, with three flower heads spaced at regular intervals, a top border of smaller flower heads and a profusion of shamrocks scattered elsewhere. Metal loop and silk tassel with intricate knot. Contained in a cream silk covered fan box, a label inside the lid for PARIS HOUSE DUBLIN, 58 Grafton St, Fan Manufacturers, Fancy Goods and Jewellery, Gold Medal and First Prize. Guard length 9.5 inches or 24cm. Previously sold at Christies, lot 124, no date on the label. Fan in good order. The box lid requires attention, the silk is worn in places and slightly stained. The shop label is clear and clean.

Dame Margot Fonteyn: A Late 19th Century White Mother-of-Pearl Fan, the sticks plain, with metal loop. Mounted with a Brussels needle lace leaf, a central panel with border containing flowers and large leaves, almost of the vine, the latter with intricate fillings. The sides and top borders of the leaf are designed with sprays of flowers and leaves in a smaller scale. The ribs are of white mother-of-pearl. Contained in a card fan box covered in cream moiré silk satin, lined in cream silk and marked inside for Duvelleroy, 167 regent street. Guard length 11 inches or 28cm Provenance: Purchased at Christie's SK on December 12th 2000, lot 47 in the sale of the Dame Margot Fonteyn Collection. generally good, a repair to the shoulder of one stick, holding well. One or two pinholes in the lace. The box is exceptionally clean and bright.

A Fine and Large Circa 1890's Pink Mother-of-Pearl Fan, the sticks plain, with silver metal loop. The centre of the leaf, of fine silk gauze, is exquisitely painted with a nymph, draped in ethereal white, barefoot, flowers in her hair. Signed to the right F. Houghton. The scene is bordered by fine and firm Brussels Point de Gaze needlelace, unusual designs and exceptionally accomplished fillings. The outer border with more floral designs is interspersed with unusual leaves and small scale flowers Guard length 13.75 inches or 35cm. very good, clean, gauze firm. The lace is the original colour, crisp, with hand made net.

A Regency brass and mahogany double fusee bracket clock by F. Lawley of Bath, the eight day double fusee movement striking the hour on a bell, the signed and painted circular 8in. dial with Roman numerals, the rectangular case with shallow gadrooned top with brass finial, over a brass inlaid front and sides with foliate rosette ring handles and pierced brass scale fretwork grilles, raised on decorative gilt brass ball feet, 19½in. (49.5cm.) high. *Condition:Very original condition - case is quite dirty but has a lovely colour. All brass inlays are complete. They are securely fixed overall - just two of the string inlays are lifting a little at the ends. Two chips to edge of gadrooned top to front and small chip to the back corners. Locks to dial glass and rear door working - key is rusty but original. Movement definitely original to case. A few old (inactive ) worm holes to top of back. Shrinkage crack down centre of right lower side of case, below the grille. Side moulding missing from the top right of case. Winds and runs but will almost certainly require cleaning and some work as it has not been serviced for decades. Winding key 20th century.
