*Scale Model. A good wooden scale model of the German ship Elbe 1, 101.5cm long x 68.5cm high, housed under a wooden and glass display case Elbe 1 was built for the authorities of the waterways around Cuxhaven to replace the original Elbe 1 which was sunk in 1936. She was in service from 1943 but later deliberately sunk in Papenburg Harbour by German officers who wanted to stop her from falling in to enemy hands. After the war she was raised again but she wasn't completed until 1948. During her service she had 50 collisions and was decommissioned in 1988. (1)
*Scale Model. A good shipbuilders 1/100 scale model of S.S. "Vacuum Pioneer", 79 cm long, housed in a floor standing teak and glass display cabinet This model was made by the Scottish Marine Model Company for the Builders - the Grange Mouth Dockyard Company who presented the model to the Board of Directors of the Vacuum Oil Company at a dinner on 18 December 1952, at which time the ship's hull was named. A Mrs J. Blake Middleton was a sponsor. The model resided in the Boardroom of Vacuum Oil until gifted on retirement to the Director. (1)
